Dr. Shaan Kunwar, DO

Dr. Kunwar is brilliant, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and patient-friendly. I feel like I'm his only patient, as he is very attentive. We discuss and plan my care together. He has been my physician for about two years, and I have received the best of care! It's a pleasure to deal with Dr Kunwar and his office staff!

Three weeks before appt. I called office and told them I was due for 1)Flu shot,2) Pneumococcal 2nd shot, 3)Covid Booster 4th shot,4) referral for hip x-rays (none taken since 2009). They call to confirm appt. I ask what is scheduled and not a single item was mentioned/noted. Hurricane just went through so I passed on appt. and said I need my Handicap car placard renewed and was told to "just stop in anytime" and it would be signed. I did, it wasn't (you can come back tomorrow and pick it up), NOT, AND they wanted to HOLD the DMV renewal form!! Don't want to be a hater, but this set-up needs to be taken down. I thought a DO would be different. Wrong. I asked for a referral for a particular surgeon (hernia with daVinci robotics was excellent btw) and had to contact my Ins. Co. because they wouldn't. But they had THEIR guy on the list...hmmm. The waiting area is like late night TV commercial with every ad you can imagine (including marijuana cards). All at extra cost btw. Money Factory

After being misdiagnosed by another internist in town, a colleague recommended Dr. Kunwar. I have been extremely pleased with him and his staff. Dr. Kunwar ordered tests for me during my first visit. As I was driving home from that appointment, his staff called to let me know that they had already scheduled the tests for me, and that those tests would occur within 48 hours. I was beyond satisfied with their assistance.

I was a patient of Dr. Kunwar for years. In April I had to request he and his staff wear surgical masks in my presence during this pandemic. For my September appointment , my last, they offered me a telemed. I said I would rather see the doctor in person. Only in the exam room was I informed that the doctor told his staff that "they didn't have to wear a mask if they didn't want to." And during the time with the doctor he flat out refused to wear one. He told me the mask did more harm than good and asked me to "show him the studies" wherein it was proven that masks mitigate the spread of disease. I'm 72 years old with a depressed immune system. The doctor of course knows this but indulged himself in his own arrogance and feelings of rectitude, rather than address my concerns for my safety by simply masking up for my brief visit. I spoke with other doctors and friends in medicine. They all suggested I look elsewhere for a doctor. Regretfully I suggest you do the same.

He's more interested in explaining the mechanics of how the insurance companies work and what's wrong with the 'system' then helping his patient. He never ordered any blood work, refused to make referrals...after a year, it was time to move on. Something fishy going on here. You've been warned.

Dr K asks what is going on with you , with a true interest!! He tunes into and listens to you! I feel much better after my visit! He recommends wellness exams, but does not force them on his patient unless a serious illness! He explains all, shows you directly what, why! He does not Judge you! I truly feel better after leaving my visit! Sounds corny, but at 66, doing medical billing and patient accounts for drs. for over 22yrs, I have dealt with many drs.! He follows thru with authorizations and documents them! I have promptly replies to authorizations! His staff is prompt, very pleasant and they and work hard with insurances for their patents! I am very impressed how he is up with insurances and their tactic! When you find a Good Internal medicine Dr in a town full of internal medicine drs, it is easy to recommend Dr K! May sound corny but NOT being corny!

Wonderful. He is bright, caring and never made me feel he was rushing. Highly recommend practice. Staff professional and friendly.

Too bad there isn’t a zero star He won’t refer. he yells at his patients when they question him. He doesn’t care about your health.

This Doctor was the most caring down to earth person I have dealt with. Generally I find Doctors a bit arrogant but I was completely comfortable and found him extremely knowledgeable I would HIGHLY recommend him.

Doctor Kunwar is an excellent physician. My wife and I have been his patients since he began practicing medicine in Sarasota. He is very conscientious, thorough, and always open to discussing your health. He always spends as much time with you as you desire and is available for consult faster than any doctor by whom I have ever been treated. His medical knowledge is current and broad and his interest in your health is keen. The office staff is friendly and helpful at all times. . .

I have been a patient of dr. Kunwar for over 5 years I think he provides the most excellent service with a lot of time spent with you spending time find out what your activities are and how your overall health is that's talk to you I've had since I've been here for 30 years

First doctor that tried to talk me out of meds that could be bad for me. First to recommend a specialist when WE thought it might be called for. Spends time tiring to get me to tell him more about what's going on. Talks to me in terms I can understand, explains what I can't! I trust him with my life. N Zuzich
