Dr. Shanil Harkins, MD

Dr. Harkins is the best GI doctor I've ever had. She didn't rush the appt. and listened attentively, asking pertinent questions. in determining the best course of treatment. Dr. Harkins cares about her patients' health. I'm happy she's my doctor!

Dr. Harkins and the entire team was so nice, making sure I was comfortable, knew how the procedure worked, what to expect afterward, and what to do if I had any problems (which I didn’t). Dr. Harkins told me what she had found and let me know she was not worried, therefore, I should not worry.

Had a Colonoscopy. The Windy Hill location is amazing. Helpful and polite front desk and respectful and knowledgeable medical team that puts you at ease. Jerome and Walter are the funniest professionals I had the pleasure of meeting. Now saving the best for last Dr. Shania Harkins is honest, smart and has a truly amazing gift as her craft. She has an endearing bedside manner that many doctors lack today. I highly recommend her.

I was referred to her from UC and am less than impressed. My chronic GI issues were not taken seriously. She spoke to me briefly, changed my medication (which made things worse as I was misdiagnosed), ordered basic bloodwork, and told me to return in 3 months. I also gave here some paperwork I needed and it was never completed or returned to me. After changing practices I was taken seriously, the doctor took over thirty minutes to understand my issues, and ordered extensive and very necessary tests to diagnose my life-inhibiting issues. Dr. Harkins is friendly but not a very good doctor from my personal experience. I would not recommend her.

Had GI exrays and still have not heard the results. It’s impossible to get through on the phone.

Both she and her immediate staff are conscientious, courteous, and thorough often taking the lead to ensure all health concerns are addressed. One can be confident in Dr. Harkins capabilities.

She is one of the best doctor I have had. She takes the time to explain in simple language what’s wrong and the options to proceed.

Dr. Harkins is not only an extremely efficient physician but she also is surrounded by a very caring staff which makes the entire process from first meeting to diagnosis to procedure (if necessary) as relaxing and comforting as I have ever seen in my 75 years. I come from a family of doctors so was raised by role models that set a high standard of caring and care. I only wish I could use her standard of care in the other areas in which I need medical services.

I was referred to this office by Urgent Care after a terrible gallbladder attack. At the UC I had an ultrasound that clearly showed stones. I now understand what was a classic case of gallstones with a clear course of removal. I was instead recommended an endoscopy which now seems unnecessary. After seeing the surgeon he said my gb was so full of stones it should have been removed immediately. Finally referred me to the surgeon begrudgingly at my insistence after hundreds of dollars

Dr Harkins is awesome. Really cares about her patients!! She is not in my ins but still go to her. Wouldn’t use anyone else!!

I was having a lot of problems and she was very caring and helpful.

She did not follow through on orders. Very disappointed. Forced me to remain in the hospital for hours longer than necessary. Will not be following up with her. Very disappointed.
