Must Avoid
Sheley Salpeter should not be practicing medicine and does not deserve to have a MD after her name. I have never before met such an awful physician. I am STILL traumatized from how she managed my father's care 3 years ago. My father broke his hip from a fall and she refused to give him enough pain medication to keep him comfortable. My father was 100 years old with no history of chronic pain or addiction. I can still hear his cries of pain, his heart rate reached 188 beats per minute at the peak of his pain at 3 am one night and I desperately rang for the nurse, fearful that his heart could not take such pain. His pain medications were discontinued at the request of Salpeter and the hospitalist was too busy in the ED. My father cried out for his mother in pain. I have never heard my dad call out for his mother ever before this. This is NOT palliative care. My father passed away 2.5 months after his hip fracture. He did not deserve to live out his last months in such agony and pain.

Worst professional experience in my life
She puts on a good show initially. And her promises are encouraging. Unfortunately, she should have gone into sales, not medicine. If your loved one is not on their deathbed, literally, run from her. Her immediate task is to remove most prescriptions. Maybe that’s not all bad, but she’s not in the business to extend life. Patients who have many months or more to live are not who she wants to bother with. You will never be able to talk to her… only her overworked secretary LVN, and messages get missed or are poorly transmitted. She made it very clear on our second (and final) in-person visit that she did not want my family member as a client, but we would be sorry that she was gone when we eventually would “really need her.” She was so unprofessional in that meeting that I was left flabbergasted and utterly speechless. So glad we left…and we never regretted it for a second.

Avoid this doctor at all costs, unless you want your loved one to die ASAP. This doctor diagnosed my aunt's lump as a benign lipoma, and discouraged us from getting a second opinion. When the lump started to grow, the doctor suggested hospice (!). We quickly switched primaries, and the lump, which was cancer, was removed. But by then the cancer was in the bone. 4 surgeries later, my aunt is in a lot of pain. All of this could have been avoided if my aunt was operated on right away.

I had the impression that she and her staff only focused on the dying process and death of a patient instead of working to prolonging life. That's what is wrong the world today, the medical professionals are no lonjurYger healers but choose instead to assist a person to die rather than live.. sad.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Dr Salpeter in person (wish I had) but had some very important critical last day convers. with her about my 88 year old stubborn mother who had been battling cancer for 11 years and was about to see the battle end. Dr Salpeter was the most kind and caring physician one could imagine and went beyond the call of duty in so many ways. My mom never trusted anyone nor spoke too kindly of others- but loved Dr Salpeter in their brief encounter. Worthy of a 10

Ms. Salpeter received my father who was admitted to the skilled nursing facility to rehabilitate from a head injury due to a fall. He had a pre-existing high blood pressure profile and was on an extensive cocktail of medication to keep that in check. Ms. Salpeter decided to ignore those pre existing prescriptions and decided to administer her own BP medications...this resulted in his BP skyrocketing to off the charts and putting his life at risk...despite our urging her administer the meds.

Upon moving into SanMateo County from out of state I was fortunate indeed in establishing Dr. Saltpeter as my primary care physician! 83 at the time and a former world traveler I'd had plentiful experience with MDs her and abroad. None came even close to comparing with Dr. Saltpeter's caring nature and medical expertise. When the MD with whom she shared an office left, Dr. S. too was forced to look elsewhere. When she became a hospitalist it was my loss but a windfall for others.
