Dr. Shinal Patel, MD

I was in the hospital for 3 days. ALL other doctors, nurse practitioners, nurse technicians were amazing. I wrote 3 nominations to awards for 3 of them. Dr. Patel was 24 hours late - the nurse practitioner called her twice, said she would call, now show. The next day she comes talking loudly, talking over me, not recommending a follow-up x-ray that was best practice when researched, no medications, no follow-up for home. All in 10 minutes. I have not met a doctor with such poor communication and temperament - like a first year medical student with a chip on her shoulder. Very rarely do I write negative posts, St. Mary's was a very good experience everywhere - housekeeping, cafeteria, etc. Why would they have someone at the top making decisions and affecting so many people in this position? When the St. Mary's survey comes out, I will be sure to communicate this. It looks like she is a new mother. Perhaps a bad day, but it can't affect people's health and STM's reputation.
