Impostor Syndrome Case Study
MRI doesn't show your spinal cord being ACTIVELY compressed? Well, I guess all of your symptoms don't exist then! Ignored all symptoms of cervical radiculopathy corroborated by family members, previous physician assistant. I guess all of the symptoms don't exist because I'm not 60 years old and wasn't COMPLETELY paralyzed. Was also over an hour and a half late. Him and his P.A. don't even review the notes left by the previous P.A., the new P.A. asked if my symptoms were from an injury and looked at me all confused for the entire meeting.

Patients' time is worthless
Dr. Chandela is a top doctor in this area. Just look at the dozens of magazine covers on the wall of his waiting room. You will have lots of time to read them all. For my previous appointment, I spent 45 minutes in his waiting room. This time, he kept me waiting in his exam room for a full hour. (I had an 11 AM appointment.) I checked out, and made a new appointment for the first appointment of the day in two months' time. Someone, please inform Dr. Chandela that Virginia is not a province of Canada.

Don't waste my time – Mar 13, 2025

Very Disappointed & Traumatized by this surgeon
This surgeon is the most arrogant, zero empathy for patients who are in pain. Zero respect for people's time. Can't be bothered to have discussions about the symptom, surgery plans, zero care and follow up on pre- and post care. He has fully outsourced his role to his very cold, very rude, stoic PAs who are his mouth piece. They know and witness this behavior and tolerate it. A team is a reflection of a leader. This is a prime example of that saying. He is a top notch surgeon in terms of skills, but very disrespectful, demeaning, very rude. After the usual 60-90 mins of wait time, he will pop in for a 30 second conversation, and then shred you to pieces for that 30 seconds of interaction. I have been traumatized by him and his PA Madeline . If someone in extreme pain is given the opportunity to meet with Madeline and this surgeon that is a very sad moment. Yes he is a top surgeon, but there is a price to pay for his rudeness, callous heart, and traumatizing bullying. Your choice.

He may be an excellent surgeon but his intake/consult is absolutely horrendous. You wait around for 2 hours, only get seen for a few unproductive minutes as if you are wasting his time. Seem disinterested to find out what is going on with you. Just seem like he couldn’t be bothered about your issues, never mind he ll be charging you for it. And why impose an incompetent stoic PA on patients which seem like a way to cover for his tardiness especially if they come in speaking different things about the situation you presented. Simply a waste of time and waste of money.

Dr. Chandela has zero interpersonal communication skills and is a very arrogant person. I was forced to wait for 1 hour to see him as he was late for the appointment. He never apologized for this behavior. My experience with Dr. Chandela was adversely affected by his attitude and demeanor; he was extremely rude and devaluing. When I inquired about the diagnosis, he replied: “it is nothing”. After seeking additional information about the imaging findings and my symptoms, he responded in a perfunctory manner, suggesting that I google the information on my own time. Personally, I found this doctor's behavior unconscionable and deeply troubling. I can only hope that this doctor will reflect on his behavior and consider altering it for the sake of his other patients. I am extremely unhappy with the outcome of this visit and I am gravely concerned about the way this doctor managed my case.

Miracle worker in "Cosmetic brain surgery!"
Dr. Chandela and his team successfully removed a "gigantic" tumor from my brain in a rigorous 6 hour operation. He was able to remove it completely, and didn't even shave my head, joking that he specialized in "cosmetic brain surgery." I chose Dr. Chandela because he is conservative about surgery and tries minimally invasive approaches whenever possible. When this is not possible, as in my case, he still conveys confidence and expertise. His pre- and post operation meetings with me and members of my family were to the point and answered all our questions. I am grateful for the care I received from Dr. Chandela and his whole team of experts.

Craniotomy Success
Dr. Chandela performed an aneurysm clipping via craniotomy on my 63 year old mother's wide-neck aneurysm in August. She was very nervous about this and Dr. Chandela and his staff (especially Madeline) were absolutely wonderful and very patient. He has such a delicate touch and the results of the surgery gave my mother the best chance for success in terms of recovery.

I started seeing Dr Chandela in November of 2021. Dr Chandela and his team were very professional & caring. I was in severe pain and they took every measure to make me comfortable. Once Dr Chandela decided that I was a candidate for surgery his team and the hospital sugery coordinator took care of all the details in a timely manner. My surgery was going to be in two parts. My first surgey was on a Monday and the 2nd one was three days. After the first surgery I was already out of severe pain. I was released from the hospital the day after my 2nd surgey. The hospital staff: nurses, food service & Housekeeping departments were amazing. I was sent home with a physical therapist and occupational therapist and they were also very accomodating. I have since had my 3 & 6 month check ups. Dr Chandela told me that I was healing just as I should be and he was very happy to see that I was no longer in the pain as when he first met me. He truly is an amazing surgeon.

I was always wary and dismissive whenever the word "surgery" came up. I dealt with my debilitating pain for about two whole years. The pain disrupted everything in my life. I went through all kinds of treatments, pain management, etc. Until I found Dr. Chandela who operated on me and "fixed" my pain. He is very understanding, intelligent, and gets straight to the point. He and his team are an amazing unit and I appreciate all that they do. I can't recommend them enough.

Dr. Chandela is absolutely AMAZING. He is so smart, kind, genuine, and caring. He showed sincere concern and care for me & my health. He went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of, and to thoughtfully explain the science of my condition & his recommendations. He thoroughly answered all of my questions, taking extra time to make sure all of my questions were answered and went above and beyond to provide the best possible care. Madeline (his PA) is also wonderful. She is a fantastic listener and made sure I was taken care of; she is patient, helpful, and understanding. Madeline also promptly responded to me and provided urgent documentation right before a long holiday weekend despite being busy with patients - I could not be more impressed with the care of Dr. Chandela and his staff. Also, the office is beautiful. Ruffa who took my vitals was so genuine and kind, as well. I wholeheartedly recommend them without reservation - everyone deserves providers and care like this.
