Terrible experience with Dr. Assefi
I went to the Wynnefield location of Tower Health on Saturday, September 23, 2023 for my physical for work and was disrespected by Dr. Sima Assefi. In the paperwork I noted I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and when she asked why I wasn't on synthetic thyroid medication I explained that I did not have insurance or a primary care physician. She then proceeded to lecture me on why I needed to be on meds, including a story about her brother who had a medical emergency due to a thyroid condition. She called me 'irresponsible,' said I wasn't taking care of myself, then refused to complete the physical or clear me for work. She admitted she didn't have an elevated TSH reading from which to make this judgement. Nor did she listen to me when I tried to explain my/my organization's situation. She didn't even believe me the first two times I told her I was the director of my organization, repeatedly referring to me as a 'CNA'. This experience was absolutely humiliating and frustrating.
