Dr. Smitha Kumar, MD

Dr Kumar is a very compassionate and relatable person in addition to her competency as a medical professional. She is persistent by obtaining the root cause of an issue and doesn't finish until the malady is under control.

Beware that Dr. Kumar's office pushes patients to be seen yearly or they will drop you from their roster. Their policies do not support best practices in patient care. I have been a patient of Dr. Kumar's for many years and saw her regularly before the COVID pandemic. Overall, I was satisfied with her specific care when I went in to see her. The past few years through COVID I did not go in for my yearly physicals. I have been healthy and did not want to expose myself to any unnecessary visits to the doctor's office. This week I came down with Strep from my daughter. Dr. Kumar's office refused to see me since I have not had a physical since NOV 2019. They said I would now be treated as a new patient. I would need to fill out enrollment paperwork again, see if Dr. Kumar would accept me as a new patient, and then could not even schedule me for at least a month. Why is it that a current patient is treat in such a poor manner when they actually need care? Seems the policy penalizes patients

I have been a patient of Dr. Kumar's for 11 years and I feel fortunate to have her as my primary care doctor. Dr. Kumar is what you hope for in a physician. She is kind, interested, thorough, patient, is happy to answer all your questions, does not rush you through your appointment, and is wonderful with replying to questions and follow-ups through the office's patient portal site. I give Dr. Kumar 5 stars and hope I may have her as my PCP for many years to come.

Dr Kumar has been our family doctor for at least 10 years. I've seen her 2-3 times a year for various things and she has always been great at diagnosing the problem, explains her plan to resolve it, and thoroughly answers all my questions and concerns. She has a calm, gentle manner and I trust her judgement 100%. I definitely recommend her to others.
