Dr. Stephen Dimarzo, MD

I would not go back or recommend this physician to others. He was very rough when examining me, even when I told him he was hurting me. He ignored me.

Dr. Dimarzo was my OB/Gyn for my first pregnancy when I was 22 up until I was 31, and he had such a calming, knowledgeable and reassuring manner that although I was nervous he had the wisdom and patience that only comes with years of experience. I continued with Dr. D through my other two children and two surrogacies. The two surrogate pregnancies were both twins and he made sure all my concerns were answered and that I knew above all else he was there for me to have the safest delivery possible. Even when I needed to go in for an emergency c-section he was right there with me holding my hand. If it wasn’t for Dr. D I don’t believe I would have become a surrogate. It was his reassuring bedside manner and honesty when answering my questions that gave me confidence during pregnancy and delivery. There is no other Dr. I would have wanted to take the journey to motherhood with.

Unprofessional, rude, and worse! Not the doc you want delivering your baby! Pro: Baby is healthy! Con: Everything else: professionalism, patient care, communication, attitude, … Rude on day 1, but we chucked it as his being old-school-style doc who does not like to answer too many questions. My wife says he had the most painful hands for a gynecologist. He is not attentive to the patient's preferences nor needs. He offered an unnecessary c-section to fit his schedule, which we declined. When he finally arrived, he sat 6 feet away chewing gum during most of the labor. I had to point out that my wife's mouth was turning blue before he asked the nurse to provide oxygen. He is not a caring/patient doctor who will communicate with you nor care about you as a human being. I apologize to anyone who suffered under DiMarzo’s care due to my delay in writing this review. He should have been “retired” by now. 2 stars is because our baby is healthy despite him and the great labor nurse!

Dr. DiMarzo is my Hero! Not only has he been my OBGYN for the last million years, but he is one of the kindest, most caring, competent, educated & compassionate physicians I've ever had! He not only made my 27 y/o's son's birth viable 27 years ago; but has taken such good care of me throughout the years. I trust this man with my life as he explains everything well, and I have never felt that my appt's have been rushed or not important. He also has an EXCELLENT staff who are prompt with any questions, f/u scheduling appts, and all my messages via my Scripps Portal have always been answered in a timely manner Patients ALWAYS come first & I have always leave my appt's looking forward to my next scheduled appt. Best Practices, Best Physician, Most accommodating staff ~ that always has a nice inviting smile to share that is always contagious.

Dr. Dimarzo is an excellent doctor. I had a difficult pregnancy and he did so much to make sure my baby arrived safely. He is an experienced doctor whom I have full trust in.
