Dr. Stephen Hwang, MD

He did my lasik sx and did a great job! He's very skilled and personable. He made me feel comfortable and made my eyesight perfect again! I'm diabetic for years but never had an issue with the surgery. I couldn't thank him and his team enough for the awesome job they've done!

About 2 months ago, I took out my contacts, put them into the cleaning solution, and reached for my glasses, which weren't where they were supposed to be. I subsequently walked around the house, barely able to see, trying to figure out where I had left them, wandering from room to room, closely looking at every table and countertop. "NO MORE", I said. I wanted options to be less reliant on glasses and contacts, on which I've been dependent for over 40 years. I made an appointment with Dr. Hwang, and from the moment I walked into the office, I knew I was good hands. Everybody was friendly, professional, and personable. I can actually list names of his staff with whom I interacted; they are all so easy to deal with and talk to! Dr. Hwang came into the exam room and we discussed my options, which included LASIK and IOLs (intraocular lenses). He is crazy smart and not only completely answered all my questions, I could actually understand everything he said; he's got a really good talent for making the complicated things easy. I couldn't have asked for a better specialist to help guide me through the process. After careful thought and weighing the pros and cons he laid out, I decided to have refractive lens exchange (RLE) which basically is cataract surgery but without my having cataracts. I chose a newer, extended range lens similar to a multi-focal that promises good near vision as well as distance. He performed the surgery a month ago. The surgery staff were just as amazing as his office staff; they work together like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was friendly, respectful, professional, and overall blew me away with how little it felt like actual surgery. The experience was painless, not even uncomfortable. It was quick. It was easy. That night I woke up and glanced at my alarm clock, and realized I could see it from lying down; no more reaching out to pull it closer! I went back to work two days after the surgery, seeing near, seeing far, seeing the computer screen, all without needing to reach for my glasses. It's amazing! The most impressive thing of all is I will never get cataracts and my vision won't significantly change as I get older. I want to give a big shoutout to Dr. Hwang, his staff, and the surgery center for taking such fantastic care of me. Thank you!

Dr. Stephen Hwang is a butcher that runs a cataract mill. Anyone who goes to see him will be told that they have cataracts. He performed cataract surgery on me and my iris prolapsed through the incision. He cut a large part of my iris off and destroyed the seat which my natural lense was seated. He said there was nothing to that could be done. I went to another opthamologist in Scottsdale and he sutured my iris back together. My eyesight has never been right since. I should have sued him!

I made an appointment 2 months ago. I gave my insurance info at that time and specifically asked if it was accepted and it was confirmed. I got a phone call today at 1:00 PM (the day before my appointment ) to tell me my insurance would not be accepted by Dr Hwang. I am so irritated that you waited this long to inform me of this. My doctor referral will be expired by the time I can find another doctor. I find that very unprofessional.
