Dr. Stephen Johs, MD

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Johs since 2012 after my cancer diagnose. Dr. Johs is kind, professional, and always makes me feel like I’m the only patient he has that day. His intuition at time of surgery also saved me from a second one. If you’re going through this as it is so difficult, I highly recommend Dr. Johs.

Dr. Johs in an remarkably talented and intelligent physician. From the moment I walked into his office, his staff were eager to help me and the wait time was minimal. He introduced himself when he walked into the exam room and his calm, reassuring demeanor put me at ease. He was thorough and took the time to answer all of my questions. My surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) was extremely well done with no complications. Dr. Johs was thorough in his post operative exam as well and ensured that all of my questions were answered and that I was recovering well and as expected. Dr. Johs is a truly kind-hearted, compassionate, one of a kind surgeon to whom I would recommend any patient.

Great surgeon and more importantly a terrific human being. Old school. Actually takes the time to know you as a person. Unusual in a surgeon! Highly recommend.

I met Dr.Johs, sight unseen at the ER as he happened to be on shift when I walked in requiring emergency surgery for gallbladder removal. He has a very calming demeanor and provides excellent explanations. He takes the time to put you at ease. I was pleased to see how much he was admired and respected by all who encountered him at the hospital, from my nurses to interns to students--that spoke volumes to his quality. I received excellent care and would recommend him without reservation.

Johs is a general surgeon. He will operate on anything from breast cancer to a hernia. I had breast cancer.He botched the surgery. He took out too much tissue and put in so many clips that I could not receive the type of radiation treatment I decided on. Now I need a plastic surgeon to make my breast look equal to my non cancerous breast. Several times I've called him but he never replied to my messages.His receptionist told me he's too busy to make phone calls. I would never send anyone to him.

Dr. Johs and his staff are exceptionally professional, personable and skilled. Our experiences from start to finish were outstanding. As a patient, the experience was welcoming, information was clear, and Dr. Johs took as much time as I needed during office visits before and after surgery - and surgery was perfect. He listen to me! Took his time , even found an additional problem that no one noticed before. Did a great job and no question or concern was ignored.

Dr. Johs is a compassionate human being. One example is that when he called to tell me I had breast cancer, he offered an appointment the next morning for me to come in so he could walk me through the diagnosis That appointment was about 90 minutes where he walked me carefully through the diagnosis. I am so grateful for his ongoing care and support. He often runs late because he makes sure that each patient gets all their questions answered. I was referred to him by two local nurses.
