Not What a Good PCP Is
The non-practitioner staff and facilities were all nice. I didn’t even necessarily feel that Dr. Simpson wasn’t “nice,” but I’ve lived all over North America and had over a dozen PCPs and it takes a special kind of doctor to make a “good” or “great” PCP. I know, because I was lucky enough to have had 3. They were fantastic, and like a diamond in the rough. Dr. Simpson didn’t make me feel like he took my health seriously and that’s jarring because I have some serious health issues that necessitate having a good or great PCP. His medical assistant was more personable and asked about my chronic disease. In fact, Dr. Simpson never asked me about it at all. We never got to the part where he wrote the much needed prescription for it because he was focused on something else. He never talked with me, he talked at me. I wanted very much to find great PCP #4 with Dr. Simpson, but I won’t be back to him and will keep looking.

Patient for 5+ years and have always thought highly of him. He takes time to listen to concerns. I feel like we're partners in my care; however, the past year visits have felt "off"--because this review is about him, & I don't have enough characters to detail the many ways the corporation managing the clinic is running the place into the ground, I'll just say--Dr. Simpson seems to be caught in the middle. You're only as good as the people who surround you & mgmt is surrounding him with clowns.

Listens, asks questions, prescribes as needed. I drive a hour one way to see him. Never waited longer than 15 minutes.

This doctor is by far the worst I’ve ever experienced. He have no concern for anyone. He should not be practicing if he does not care about the lives of others. I had a conversation with his about my mother and he was so rude I could have hung up but my mom needed her prescriptions. He actually stated he didn’t care as has no concern about it. At this point I’m concerned about my mom be cared for by a doctor who does not care.

Dr. Simpson was not the least bit concerned that my fathers eGFR ( your kidney filtration rate) was 38 when the normal lab result is 60 or greater. This is huge!!! My father was in stage 4 chronic kidney disease and Dr. Simpson was and still is oblivious. Also Dr. Simpson continued to prescribe Omeprazole to my dad which is proven to have detrimental effects on the kidneys. If Dr. Steven Simpson is your PCP you better be proactive in your own health care!!!!
