Doesn't hear you
I moved up to Anchorage from Colorado 4 years ago. I have a-fib with a-flutter and svt. I went for heart ablation in Denver in 2018 but woke up during the ablating due to pain in my chest. My cardiologist then canceled the procedure because he didn't want to do damage to me and give unwanted complications. We then spent a year trying different medications that work for me. Then I moved to Alaska. I made appt with my pcc in anmc for flecanide refills since they work for me. She said she couldn't give me refills and I needed to see cardiology. ANMC cardiology barely listened to me and instead heard I had a failed ablation. They refused my refills and said they put referral to AK Heart because Dr Park is general cardiology and I needed a specialist. I go to AK Heart to see Dr Compton. Tell him about the complication in Denver and explain that I just want my medication refills. All he heard was Cha-ching give her another ablation. I'm now disabled from complications. He's been unhelpful.

Simply the best
It has been 3 months since my ablation and no afib! Dr. Compton has changed my life. I cannot put into words how grateful I am. I will recommend him to anyone who has afib. In my opinion he is simply the best.

Dr. Compton is very knowledgeable and has a great "bedside manner". He came highly recommended and I agree. His office leaves something to be desired however. Very difficult to talk to anyone.

Dr. Steven Compton is a member of what I consider to be a dangerous corporate trust in the Alaska Heart Institute. This corporate trust leave patients with no adequate choice with respect to cardiac care except those at the whim of members of that institute and/or its members and staff.

Dr. Compton is both thorough and capable. However, if your visits to his office include face time with his assistant/nurse, Rona, prepare for a horrible and frustrating experience. She goes out of her way to obstruct your questions, requests, and other communications, instead choosing an unbelievably arrogant and condescending approach to communication. Her behaviors and attitudes represent the antithesis of the Hippocratic Oath, "First do not harm...". BEWARE. Dr. Compton himself, is great
