I saw Dr Dickstein as a teenager. I'd been privately battling an eating disorder and was seeing him for unrelated reasons. Eventually, I worked up the courage to say that I was concerned about my eating habits, and I explained why. Afterward, Dr. Dickstein had the audacity to say "you think like you have anorexia, but you don't look like you have anorexia." He gave a gross misdiagnosis and ignored my concerns about food because I didn't "look" like I had anorexia. Two years later, at 19 years old, I almost died of a heart attack directly due to my eating disorder, even though I still didn't have the stereotypical "look" of an eating disorder. Had I died, it would have been Dr. Dickstein's fault, because for years I believed that I did not have an eating disorder because a "doctor" told me so. I wouldn't recommend going near this doctor with a ten-foot pole. I sincerely hope that he has since educated himself on what eating disorders are, or refers these patients out.
