Dr. Steven Kanarek, MD

I seldom write reviews but after reading earlier negative reviews I feel compelled to write about my positive experience and refute their statements. First I was impressed with the staff member who administered the first part of my test and Dr Kanarek who did the second part and took time to explain in detail the results. I was more than satisfied with my appointment and wish all doctors were so thorough and listened so carefully to their patient’s concerns. My appointment with Dr. Kanarek could not have been better.

Dr. Steven Kanarek was VERY dismissive! He had no intention of listening to anything I had to say the moment he stepped into the room. You'd get more patience from a New York Cop! At one point he rolled his eyes at me. I recommend going to get your teeth pulled without Novocain then deal with this sour apple of the medical world.

Concur with the other reviews. When I was asking questions or said I had concerns I was treated like I was being difficult and wasting time. Details were not provided when I asked for them and were just quickly glossed over.

Perhaps the worst doctor's office visit I have ever experienced. Zero bedside manner, empathy, or effort to engage personally. Acted annoyed at his office staff, would not perform two simple evaluations in one scheduled appointment. The kicker: did not inform me that an optional, diagnostic *at-home* sleep test would cost over $1,000. Unreal.

Zero bedside manner, very condescending, left in tears. Be prepared or better yet do not give your money to this man

After reading reviews here and on Vitals.com, I was very nervous I was assigned to Dr. Kanarek. I warned the receptionist I was nervous because of so many bad reviews. She then apparently warned the medical assistant who took my weight/height, and blood pressure. She asked me what the on-line reviews said so I told her. Dr. Kanarek came in shortly after she left and made eye-contact with me and introduced himself. My issue had subsided by the time I was there was but he asked all kinds of questions and did some tests. I have no issue returning him and felt like he listened and heard me. I didn't feel rushed at all either. I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day before with so many bad reviews but my experience went well and I would definitely go back again. He ordered labs for me and I found one a value of the one of the labs he ordered and he modified the lab order then.

I should have read the reviews before coming here. His bedside manner is terrible he is condescending. He makes you feel like asking a question is bothersome to him, and you’re stupid for even asking it. I had a leg EMG and sat in silence after asking him he would be able to tell me the results after the test was done. His response was “Yes that is my job”. Then nothing. Silence, expect for telling me how to move my leg to the correct position for most of the hour long appt. I’m 39 and see 6 doctors regularly but this guy was the absolute worst I have seen!! He needs to be trained on how to have empathy and how to simply talk with his patients, not talk down to them!! Told my referring dr and she is NOT sending any other pain management patients to that office again!

My mom and I took my dad to see this man for severe dementia he wrote a few prescriptions said there was nothing else he could do and told us to have our primary care doctor refill his meds when needed and walked out. He made it painfully clear that he saw my dad as a throwaway and a waste of his precious time, not to mention in the all of 15 minutes he was with us he belittled, talked down to, and was completely rude to both my mom and me...I was completely shocked! My suggestion, if you're looking for a Neurologist stay clear of this man, the day your doctor sees you as a throwaway is the day said doctor needs to find a new profession!

Worst doctor visit ever. Uncaring robot doctor. Could care less. Will not be back. Others BEWARE!

He was extremely rude and dismissive. Didn't say hello and barely made eye contact. Completely doubted and dismissed all that I had to tell him...UNTIL he actually examined me and saw that I was factually telling the truth. I have unfortunately had rude doctors before, but this was on a new level. I see by his many other reviews on this website and many others that he either doesn't read his reviews or doesn't give a crap. I think it's the latter based on what I experienced today. I almost walked out mid-appointment, but glad I stayed so he could see he was being dismissive to a patient with a real issue! Only after actually examining me and seeing the issue with his own eyes did he treat me just slightly better. Overall...extremely rude and I won't be back. If you don't like what you do as a doctor and it's beyond obviousthat you don't...do everyone a favor and get out of your industry.

I was nervous that Dr. Kanarek's reviews were not all positive. However, I found him wonderful. He was thoughtful and explained everything to me. I'd happily recommend him to others.

I waited almost 4 months to see this doctor! Why?! His Medical Assistant is rude and very flighty mentally. He is rude, cold, uncaring, and a very poor communicator. He sat at his computer the entire time typing and never made eye contact. I asked a couple of questions which were important to me and he didn't answer them. Seemed most interested in getting me scheduled for a sleep study ($$$) which is not what I was there for. Won't be back.

He is one of the rudest people I have ever met. Not only is he cold and indifferent, his personality is better suited for a dog catcher

I would give him negative star if there’s an option. Dr Kanerak is a cold heartless doctor and no empathy. My mom was a patient of his and every doctor visit he seems no interest of her well being. He does not care for his patients at all. If you are looking for a neurologist I would definitely not recommend him.

Bedside manner was cold and curt. Was seeing him because my hand surgeon referred to him for EMG muscle nerve testing. When asked a question pertaining to neurological conditions, he curtly told me I was being seen for testing only. I did not schedule to see him for evaluation. Later, I asked another question, I was told he was trying to write his report to wait. By the time he finished, he got up and on the way out of room gave a brief no answer. HE HAS NO BED SIDE MANNER! Will not refer and am making report to referring surgeon today at follow up appt.

I have been an RN for 41 years in the OR and Vascular Lab and I provide exceptional customer service. I was a patient there last week and it was not a very good experience. The provider didn't smile or shake my hand. He even cut my wife off when she was trying to ask a question. The whole time that he was there, he acted like he didn't want to be in the room. He may be a skilled practitioner, but has poor bed side manner and appeared disinterested.
