I have been seeing Dr. Nissman for 15 years, but I am going to have to find a new Doctor after what happened to my husband. After all the time we've been coming to his practice, BEV, his office manager, would not squeeze him in for an appointment, when we told her in May, that he had just driven on a long road trip, and he was having problems with his eyes, and needed to be seen quickly because he has Diabetes. The soonest she could see him was September!! I kept calling Bev to see if there was a cancelation, but she was very short with me, and told me that he was on their wait list. I told her, this was serious, and he was going to a new doctor. Beverly didn't care. So, he went to a new eye doctor and she said he had cataracts almost totally covering his eye that was troubling him. So, this couldn't wait and he was referred to a surgeon. Dr. Nissman told him at his visit last year that he was getting cataracts, but they weren't that serious yet.

A Great Eye Doctor for me
Dr. Nissman took the time to get to know my medical history and got to know me as a person, ensuring that he could give me the best care. I have had glasses since I was 6 and have been diabetic for over 20 years. I trust Dr. Nissman more than any opthamologist I've had. Seriously -- a good doctor, a good person - Dr. Nissman has my highest recommendation.

Honest & Practical
I went to a different practice that told me I had astigmatism. Went to Nissman and he told me that I didn't, only needed single-vision lenses which not only saves me time, but money too! Even though he does not accept my insurance, my family is completely happy paying out of network and he has not steered my daughter, husband, and myself wrong. He also gave me options for my contacts that not only are practical but are more cost-effective in the long-run. I appreciate a doc not out to gouge their patients!

Dr. Nissman put the wrong lens in my eye and had to re-do the surgery, which led to numerous complications. He told me I had a specific eye condition and then refused to explain what that was to me because he said I "wouldn't understand it." We all have the right to have our medical conditions explained to us. He dismissed my concerns and was other than clear and candid about aspects of my treatment. Altogether, this monthlong experience has been traumatic to the degree that I am now afraid to have cataracts surgery on my other eye. I am now in the care of another doctor.

I waited quite a while to have the quickest, sloppiest, eye exam , ever with poor quality machinery. I know my glaucoma test was not done, and he never looked into the back of my eye. Unacceptable care.

Doctor only spent about 3 minutes with me. Very rushed. I was waiting for the second part of the eye exam where the eye is dilated, but the doctor left. When I asked the staff about the rest of the exam, they told me that he doesn't do that. I find that to be very strange.
