Dr. Steven Savona, MD

Look elsewhere. He may tell you that don’t have a medical condition you’ve been positively diagnosed with and treated for, for decades before you saw him. Know it alls are not the best doctors. He says he’s an ‘expert’. Trust me, he wasn’t for me. He lied on the notes on the portal. Bullying doesn’t make you a good doctor.

From the 1st visit with Dr. Savona I knew something was off. He was meeting my father for the first time who had been diagnosed with Melanoma. I drove both my parents to the office and requested that my mother and I be allowed to sit in and meet with him. Dr Savona denied my request telling me to relay the info to mom. Dad was hospitalized shortly after our consultation. My family and I had absolutely zero contact with Dr. Savona throughout my fathers hospitalization. He came in to see my father one time in almost two weeks. The only communication came from his nurse Karen who was delightful. He was leaving me messages about treatment plans with outdated information. My father was already in hospice and he was calling me to let me know he saw him one day this week. The staff at North Shore was amazing but Dr. Savona did absolutely nothing and showed zero interest in communicating with us. I would not let him treat anyone I cared about in the future. Please seek other options

Horrible, uncaring and arrogant

I have been calling the office for a refill on one of my scripts since Monday and here it is FRIDAY and NO ONE has called me back. I called the office 8 times yesterday and kept getting told that a supervisor was in a meeting or couldn’t come to the phone or was with patients. I was told that they record your conversation in the doctors office when you are seeing him. Not one person on the clinical staff could put someone on the phone to speak to Me. I am a northwell employee and I will be reaching out to someone in corporate about this. All of the phone calls are logged and supposedly they sent messages to the clinical staff each time. The staff answering the phones don’t care about you or your needs. And this is NOT the first time this has happened. I would really think about and do research before going to this office

Dr Savona is perhaps the most caring, compassionate, professional, and intelligent doctors I have known. He explained my issue in a clear and complete manner, gave me all the time I needed, and gave me results in writing, along with notes to clarify all. I would, obviously, highly recommend him.

Can't say enough good things about Dr Savona. An excellent physician, I credit him for saving my life. He explains, answers questions, spends time with his patients. You may have to wait a while because of this, but he's worth it. He CARES! Hope I never have to recommend him to someone I know, but would do so in the blink of an eye if needed.
