Uses archaic methods and failed to remove fistula
I sought treatment from Dr. Waxenbaum due to a fistula. Unfortunately, I found the methods employed to be quite distressing. The initial attempt to drain the fistula was excruciating, and unfortunately, it wasn't effective. Despite undergoing surgery, the entire fistula wasn't successfully removed. During subsequent appointments, the wound was cauterized, which was also extremely painful. Dr. Waxenbaum's assessment was that my bowels needed tightening and suggested using rubber bands for the procedure. However, I opted not to proceed with this recommendation.I later sought a second opinion, and the new doctor quickly identified that the entire fistula hadn't been removed. After two surgeries with this new doctor, the fistula was finally addressed properly.I genuinely believe it's essential for patients to be aware of their treatment options and to consider second opinions when in doubt. Based on my experience, I would advise caution if considering treatment with Dr. Waxenbaum.

Excellent Doctor
Felt very strange about going to this type of doctor, but Dr. Waxenbaum made me feel comfortable. He answered all my questions and was generous with his time, especially considering that I made a mistake with my appointment but he fit me in (probably during his lunch time) after learning that I drove an hour to see him. Excellent doctor.

Dr. Waxenbaum treated my mother at Valley Hospital. And by treated, I mean he did one physical exam, recognized her tumor as cancer, and then was not seen again until four days later. He entered the room to give the results of her biopsy and spent less than two minutes in the room, telling her it was Stage 2, possibly 3 depending on how far it's spread. He then said he had a 4:30 meeting and had to leave, and answered no follow-up questions. HORRIBLE bedside manner.
