I take some medications that could influence my endocrine health. These medications have been prescribed by my gynecologist and psychiatrist and they work very well for me. I went to Dr. Trikudanathan for a check-up and she wanted to take me off my HRT and my ADHD medications just because she thought the were “unnecessary”. She was not present during most of the appointment and someone else was collecting my health information for 20 minutes, who then went to share the info with Dr. Trikudanathan. In the last 6-7 minutes of the appointment, Dr. Trikudanathan came to the room and suggested that I should stop taking all of my medications. She said that she didn’t trust the diagnosis of her colleague and wanted to order a set of new labwork, for which I need to stop all my medications for 3 months! Additionally, she suggested that regardless of the results, I should not take any of my medications in the future except for my birth control pills.

Typical MD PhD - Serious but very knowledgeable
Dr Trikudanathan is serious, she can come across as a little bit harsh, but she is really quite caring. She shows her caring by looking for and suggesting ways I can improve my glycemic control. As a partner in managing my complex needs as an insulin dependent diabetic, she is great. However, I would guess that she may have less patience with those who are not constantly striving to improve glycemic control.

I found out the hard way to read an actual note and not listen to what is said. The two do not coincide. Copy and pasting for 5 years is not good. I often felt verbal responses did not reflect I was listened to. I responded to what I was told not what she wrote. I found out the two didn't match when I got new Doctor.

Dr Trikudanathan is one of the best endocrinologists I've ever seen in my 36 years as a diabetic with multiple other health issues. She has always listened to me and discussed thoroughly my treatment plan. She always encouraged me without embarrassing or demeaning me. She's current and up to date on diabetic treatments. I wish my insurance would still cover her. I will truly miss having her as my endocrinologist.

couldn't recommend her. She was responsive, but not listening to me about what was happening, what I was eating etc. When I went to a new endocronologist I was heard and given much better treatment.
