Dr. Susan Kirsch, MD

Dr. Kirsch is a warm, kind, knowledgable clinician. I felt comfortable talking about my concerns with her and appreciated that she referred to me as the expert in my own mental health, rather than pathologizing me as I have been before by psychiatrists.

Seemed dismissive and uninterested in truly listening or understanding.

She was very thorough and considers other possible complicating factors/explanations. She is extremely empathetic. I recommend her highly.

Refused to consider a change of medication, even when side effects were reported as creating a worsening of depression and anxiety. Instead, Dr. Kirsch prescribed a higher dose of the same medication, creating a dangerous situation for the patient. Required $$$ in-person visits only and did not address urgent concerns over the phone. Failed to return phone calls. Once with a wise, capable and competent NEW doctor, the medication that Dr. Kirsch prescribed was immediately found to be "ineffective" and was replaced with a new medication resulting in depression and anxiety being improved quickly. I do not recommend Dr. Kirsch to my family or friends.
