Dr. Susan Onami, MD

I saw this doctor due to my severe spinal stenosis which has grown worse in the course of a year, according to MRI results. It was clear upon entering the exam room that she had not reviewed my chart at all. She walked in looking tired and fairly disinterested. I explained that, having watched my father pass away from surgery complications, I was in no hurry to have my neck operated on at this point. I described my pain level and asked to explore other options for relief, of which, she had few. Not only was she not interested in my story, she cut me off a couple of times to say that many options for pain relief were futile and at the same time seemed to indict me for having not tried any of them. I explained what I had tried. She dismissed all those efforts and wouldn't even hear out the prescription pain meds that have worked best for me. She did, however, peddle the usual Gabapentin. I had been given a temp disabled placard by the previous doctor, which Dr. Onami refused to continue. You can tell that this doctor has never experienced debilitating pain in her life from her lack of empathy.
