Dr. Tanya Melnik, MD

Dr. Melnik was attentive, she listened to my concerns and reflected them back to me to make sure she understood them. She took time to fully hear me out, she was empathetic, and asked questions that really helped me further explain my condition. Great provider.

I see Dr. Melnik at the Womans Clinic associated with the University of Minnesota. She has always listened to what I say is going on and makes appropriate referals. She also checks up on how things went with the referrals and reminds me of tests I need to schedule at the appropriate time. I have never felt rushed and she explains things in terms I can understand.

I have a unique condition that requires close monitoring. My previous primary would see me every 3-4 months, my specialists every 4-6. Dr Melnik feels 12-18 months is enough. When I see her to talk about issues, she refers me to another doc. She even put in a referral to an OBGYN, which she is a doc who specializes in woman's health. The OB was confused by my referralShe is quick to scold/tell me to not let my illness dictate my other issues because it doesn't cause every problem that I may encounter (ie common cold, ear infection, bruise, broken bone). Even though I only asked if it is related to my illness. She responded that I'm human and will get a cold and I shouldn't try to blame everything on my illnessShe doesn't respond quickly to messages. Typically I hear back within 2-4 weeks. I put in a refill request at my pharmacy 3 weeks in advance, and I get messages saying they can't get ahold of her. I have missed doses as a result. She is intelligent but hands-off approach

Although I think Dr. Melnik is knowledgeable, it did not help me, because she was not able to listen. She had a quick response before I even finished my statement. I hate to say that this is the worst Dr. I've ever seen and she literally laughed out loud when I expressed a health symptom of mine. I think I will use the word "humiliated" to describe my experience with this dr. All she wanted to do was pass out referrals to other specialists based off of every little symptom and then dismiss what the Dr. who referred me to her had suggested.

Dr Melnik does not take time to understand patients concerns. Cuts you short when you speak. Did nothing for me other than send a bunch of referrals. which any other doctor or nurse would have easily done. Hope she improves her bedside manners.

1. She seemed unable to relate to my very rare disability and, therefore, I did not feel she understood my suffering or that she cared; 2. She showed disinterest and no compassion when I told her of the death of a loved one! Simply said, she is CLUELESS about the needs of us, seniors! 3. HER REFERRALS ARE USELESS, TOO - she assumed she knew more about my body from the information gathered in just one short visit vs me living in my body for nearly 7 decades!

This was my first visit, as I’ve been searching for a new doctor. We had excellent rapport and she explained everything to me and discussed concerns in depth, with humor, including care plans I was unsure/unconvinced about. Very thorough, personable, quick and detailed responses to my questions. I am always a skeptical and questioning patient and I was very satisfied with her responses and explanations, and suggestions.
