An excellent neurosurgeon!
I’ve had three spinal surgeries by Dr. Smith, the last being cervical surgery a week ago. I’ve been up and back to my normal routine - pain free- since the third day after surgery. And didn’t need pain medication after the third day. He even called me after hours to check up on me. He always explains the situation to me in clear terms. I definitely recommend him.

Worst run office
If you ever have back issues and are referred to a neurosurgeon on the coast, do NOT go to Dr. Terry Smith. His office is the biggest joke ever. They don't fax records to disability, they mail them and it took 3 1/2 weeks to get them (I had to go to his office 40 min away and pay to get them myself just to send to disability so I didn't lose my claim). Now that he's doing another 30 days off, my disability company faxed him the form to fill out LAST Wed. morning and I went to his office (40 min away) to pick that up and to sign the release to have my records emailed to me so my disability gets them sooner than his office mails them out, only to find out he hadn't filled it out yet. I've called last Fri only to be told he fills out his papers over the weekend. I call Mon to be told he didn't do it and is in surgery all day. They call me today because they need my disability to fax over another form because they lost the first one. Worst office ever!

Outstanding physican
After suffering excruciating lower back pain for 8 months, and after consulting a neurologist and a pain management doctor both of whom prescribed highly potent opioids which did absolutely nothing to alleviate my pain, that neurologist informed me that there was nothing more he could do for me, I frantically sought a second opinion. To my extreme delight, I found Dr. Terry Smith who, after reviewing the MRI results said "I can fix this". A week later Dr. Smith performed surgery, and when I woke from the surgery, I had ABSOLUTELY NO pain whatsoever. That was nearly 3 years ago, and I'm still free of pain. I would recommend Dr. Smith to anyone!!!

He was so rude and degrading to my mother who was in immense pain. The surgery was not successful and was even considered botched by the next surgeon.

Dr Terry Smith is a excellent neurosurgeon. God blessed Dr Smith with healing hands, and great wisdom in neurosurgery. It has been 5 weeks and the pain is almost nil in my lower back. So, thank you Dr Smith for accepting me as your patient. Love and prayers to you and your staff!

I have been a patient of Dr. Terry Smith for several years now, with no complaints. Not until he decided that my husband was no longer a priority because he was deathly afraid of having a very extensive surgical procedure. Mind you that he had never had any type of surgery, ever in his 59 years. Being fearful of undergoing any type of surgical procedure is normal. However, when he called to postpone the procedure, he later received a call from Dr. Smith’s office stating that he would have to find another surgeon because he was not willing to treat him. Patients cancel their surgeries all of the time for whatever reason. I do not believe that the attitude he took towards my husband was professional or compassionate. I’m wondering if this is his standard of care? Does he write off every patient who decides to postpone their surgeries. Suffice it to say, that we found found a neurosurgeon who was compassionate and understanding and allowed him to proceed when he was ready.

Dr.Smith was excellent! He saved my life!!! After 3 months of running around looking for answers and absolutely no help from my primary, I began going paralyzed and numb all over my body. I couldn't distinguish the difference between hot and cold. After an MRI, they told me I needed surgery and that I was on my way to having a stroke. Well Dr.Smith did my surgery and I am excited to have my inference back and I can walk and do all the things I could do before. Thank you Dr.Smith!

During my first and second appointment's Dr. Smith was very informative and explained all my options in great detail. He offered temporary solutions as well as semi-permanent solutions. After going over the options he and I have elected to go ahead and do the back surgery. I feel confident in his knowledge, skill, and abilities that I will come out of this with little to no pain one completely healed. I will post again a "surgery follow-up" comment in 6-8 weeks and then again in 3 months.

My wife has been Dr. Smith’s patient for 15 years. She trust him implicitly and referred me to be under his care. Dr. Smith did an outstanding job on my November, 2017, lumbar fusion. Surgery went great. I was discharged from the hospital in two days as planned. I am now free of the radiating right hip and lower leg pain that plagued me prior to surgery. I have full confidence in Dr. Smith and trust my care to his 30 years of expertise and quality patient care. .I highly recommend Dr. Smith!

Dr. Smith performed a decompression procedure on my lumbar spine 4 months ago. Prior to the surgery, my 55 year spine was making me feel decades older. Now, I am enjoying life without the pain, weakness and numbness. I feel blessed that Dr. Smith was my surgeon.

I would never recommend this Dr. to anyone, family or friends. But please don't just take my word, ask around in the community. Something I wish we would have known to do. He has a well earned reputation of having no bed side manner. He automatically prejudged my husband when we told him that combat ptsd was an issue. We were desperate to see a doctor based on insurance hangups and cancelled appts. God forbid you don't understand something and ask for clarification. Research this Doctor.

Excellent surgeon!! He performed back surgery on me in 1993. I'm petite and during surgery he improvised on securing a rod in my back so it wouldnt make my skin protrude. I was told by a friend in medical profession he was one of the best so I had complete faith in him when I chose one of the riskier options he presented to me. I returned 2 years later to remove the rod. so far no back problems in the last 23 years

did not provide me the care or concern i needed. Youll be lucky to get 5 minutes with him and if you dare to disagree youll be screwed! Has terrible communication skills and will treat you like you are beneath his standing. Was rude, arrogant and used harsh tones with me during one of my appt.s I would not recommend him and regret i listened to the referral to him. receptionist is also not friendly, never smiles and never greets people. When you are in pain you need to have a friendly face.

Dr. Smith is a great surgeon!! I have had three fusions from him. I consider all of them to be successful with realistic outcomes. Dr. T. Smith gets to the point and is very thorough. He is all about the patient to help find a solution. He will assist with temporary pain, not long term chronic pain, but he will refer you. I've had many neurosurgeons over the years for a brain AVM and spine issues. Dr. Smith's expertise and abilities are at the top.

I am now 3 weeks post surgery and I am 90% pain free! I am now walking 2+ miles per day and feel like I am getting better everyday. I actually forgot what it felt like to not be in pain all the time and I have my life back!!! Dr. Smith is extremely talented and I am recommending him to everyone I talk to. His bedside manner is not coddling and he is straight to the point, that is what I want... I could care less if my surgeon is all warm and cuddly.
