First Impressions Are Usually Accurate
I saw Mengesha about 2-3 years ago and my impression was not a good one. I have now seen him 2 or 3 times. My impression has not changed and I will not see him again. He is arrogant, weird, and a poor communicator.

Do not go to this doctor. He would rather find out what is wrong with you at your autopsy than help you. My mother was experiencing right side weakness in January 2022 and was referred to Dr. Mengesha as the symptoms appeared to be neurological. He didn't seem to care or look into what was going on. The weakness progressed and his office kept putting off appointments for a multitude of reasons. During a span of 6 weeks, my mother went from walking unassisted to using a walker and barely able to use her right hand. We had expressed concern at how fast things were going down hill and he kept saying it was surely Parkinsons and that he will see her in 6 months. After awhile, my mother's gp requested records from Mengesha and what they sent would have been funny had we not been so worried. They said she had a grade school education, that she lived alone, was unmarried, that she didn't drink alcohol but drank beer, and that she didn't do drugs but smoked marijuana. All of this is untrue and very misleading. These inaccuracies could have been seen by another doctor and led to a misdiagnosis. We finally found another neurologist (Dr. Ian McGuinness) who quickly diagnosed my mother with ALS and was able to get her started on medication and in touch with the ALS foundation. My mother could have started treatment to slow down the progression of this death sentence sooner had it not been for this "doctor".

The office
I've been going to Dr. Mengesha since mid 2015. I have followed him through 3 office moves. I have recommended him to anyone I know with migraine or other neurology related issues. I can't after today. I moved an appointment from February to April and was charged a NO SHOW fee for the February appointment. This is something that can be cleared up very easily but the way I was treated by Molly (office manager) and her relayed message from Dr. Mengesha have changed my opinion completely. The unprofessionalism like "you don't know who I am" and angrily calling me "honey" after I ask her to stop leaves me speechless. And now without a neurologist, sadly.

Actually takes the time to explain
Dr. Mengesha actually cares about his patients and sees them as people instead of case numbers. He takes the time to explain everything in detail so that there is no doubt about your understanding of what is going on. He has great bedside manner and his team are professional, kind and generally nice people.

I have been seeing Dr Mengesha for chronic migraines and Myasthenia Gravis. After my experiences with him for many months I would not recommend him. He didn't listen to my concerns and translate them into my care plan. As a patient, I believe we know our bodies best and his care and treatment was very concerning.

Let me start by saying as an educator I am very picky about my medical doctors but " I love Dr. Mengesha and his staff." He has help me come from a might long way. For the past few years, I have been in and out of the hospital with stroke-like symptoms which then lead to horrendous migraines. I saw three different neurologist before hitting the jackpot with Dr. Mengesha. I have stuck with him not just due to his medical knowledge but because after every hospitalizations or Dr. visit, he would

My husband has Parkinson's Disease and Dr. Mengesha has controlled this disease so that my husband does not suffer the shaking that is attributed to Parkinson's. The husband is still able to feed himself with a steady hand. Dr. Mengesha as well as all his staff are a caring, helpful office.

Excellent patent kindness willing to explain things. Does not make you feel like you're wasting his time. Don't over book. If he don't know he will tell you he also tells you he will find out. I won't go to anyone else.
