Exceeded my expectations
I'm so glad I did a lot of research before scheduling my TKR. Dr Gautsch was my best candidate after reading of his latest procedure and then meeting him. He was kind and professional and put me at ease. It's been 4 weeks. I actually walked out from the surgery center and never used a walker. Although pain was there, I could manage it with meds, ice and rest. My PT folks were amazed at how far ahead I was from most patients who had the regular surgery. I was in tears to see my post X-rays showing a strong and straight new knee with plenty of cushion! No more knee pain when walking. I'm so grateful for Dr Gautsch and his team and highly recommend you see if you qualify for the minimally invasive knee replacement. Stay positive and do your post therapy. I also did pre op PT which helped ensure my muscles were primed for success.

I was within 2 weeks of having my Quadricep being cut into and my neighbor in South Florida who it took a year to recover from having it cut, told me about quadricep sparing total knee replacement. There were four doctors in Miami that did this procedure. But I preferred to have it done in Nashville during the summer. After calling all the major hospitals in orthopedic clinics. I found Doctor Gautsch. I walked immediately after recovery and went home, back working on farm in 7, cleared at 14 days to full time work. He communicates well and cares about his patients and the staff is very friendly. Fantastic!

Right Shoulder Surgery 2018
I underwent Shoulder Surgery in 2018 due to a nasty fall on ice by Dr. Gautsch. I couldn’t be happier and he done an excellent job. If I hadn’t waited 6.5 months to have surgery done it would have went better. Great Job Dr.

Amazing/Blessing I tell everybody about Dr Gautsch
I had searched for several years to find a doctor that did not do the traditional over the knee, knee replacement surgery. I was terrified to have to go through that pain and long recovery. In finding Dr Gautsch I found a surgeon with a different method for knee surgery, his method is a procedure that makes the incision from the inside of your leg lifting the knee cap up, not touching the tendon in the front of your knee making the surgery an out-patient procedure for most. The recovery time is half the time of traditional surgery. I went in for Surgery February 28th 2022 and graduated from physical therapy March 30th 2022. I went back to work full time on April 3rd 2022. The true test for my knew knee came in May when I went fly fishing for the first time. I have gone several time since and feel safe on my knew knee. Dr Gautsch was warm, very knowledgeable and his technique works. You as the patient HAVE to follow the rules. He is strict but with only your best recovery in mind.

Pain Free!!!
3 weeks ago I had a full knee replacement. Dr. Gautsch performed a very radical surgery and I am not afraid to admit that I had quite a bit of apprehension but today… 3 weeks later and after the amazing expertise of both physical therapists, I am completely off of pain pills and I am gaining mobility, flexibility and independence daily! I am so grateful to Dr. Gautsch and his staff. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who is considering having this surgery to make an appointment with Dr. Geautsch as soon as possible! Don’t spend another moment in pain!

Dr Gautsch, performed a total joint replacement, on my left knee. On September, 9th of this year, he performed the procedure on my right knee. Dr Gautsch uses a new procedure that accelerates the healing process. I was able to completely use my right knee and I was finished with physical therapy within 5 weeks. That’s right, 5 weeks. If you see another surgeon, ask the if the incision is in middle of the knee or on the inside of the knee. If you can find a surgeon that makes the incision on the inside of the knee, then you’ve got the surgeon. 2 knee replacement’s in just less than 2 months. I wouldn’t trade this surgeon for anything.

We are so grateful to Dr. Gautsch and his staff. He did a total knee replacement for my husband and because he does a side cut instead of a cut down the front center of the knee the recovery is so much easier. No muscle cut, no tourniquet needed, no heavy sedation, done as an outpatient and you are up and walking an hour or so after surgery. Rehab is also much easier and faster. We live in South Georgia and had heard so many good things about Dr. Gautsch that we made the 7 hour trip to his office. After meeting him, xrays being taken, and then discussing our options – we booked the surgery. We are so glad we did! This is not a walk in the park! It is major surgery with careful caregiving for the first month. We have had some normal issues but Dr. Gautsch and his staff have been there for us and have checked on us to make sure all was going well when we did have questions or needs. We are so appreciative to them. Everything they told us has been spot on. We are so thankful!

Dr. Tom Gautsch is a rarity. He listens, spends time explaining the X-ray results, and describes the surgery procedure along with the PT needed for a full recovery. I had a full knee replacement on November 9 at the surgery center, walked out that day armed with what to expect day to day until released from PT. Today marks one month after surgery, and I'm walking perfectly straight without any assistance. I've actually cried yesterday when I stood up to walk and was immediately able to proceed. You see, for a long time, I had to stand up, access the energy to move, and then take a step. That is gone! The PT staff is remarkable, and since they know Dr. Gautsch's surgeries, ONLY they can pinpoint the activities necessary for success. They are kind, persistent, and pushy at times, but they make me work for my achievements. Dr. Gautsch is the best! -- Eileen George 615-300-5291 eileenpgeorge@gmail.com

My Highest Recommendation. Outstanding bedside manner. I get very nervous about surgery but he put me at ease. I knew I could trust him because he really cared. I have recommended Dr. Gautsch to several friends and all of them have had the same excellent experience. If you need knee or shoulder surgery, you should definitely go see Dr. Gautsch. I’ve had several now, he has been the best by far.

Dr. Gautsch was Exactly who I was looking for. I knew that there had to be a better way to do knee replacement then what I watched so many of my friends go through. I was walking better and already had more bend in my knee at my first physical therapy appointment than a room full of other people who had the “down the front” surgery several weeks or even more before I did. Most were still using walkers which I only used at the center on the day of my surgery! The therapists couldn’t believe it until I showed my side incision. Best decision I’ve made in a long time!

Dr. Gautsch and his staff are such a delight. People can't believe how well I am doing so soon, after knee replacement at the surgery center. He also previously repaired my shoulder there, which also gives me no trouble at all even though it was several years ago! He is always very professional, but with a good sense of humor. He took the time to explain all aspects of his side approach knee surgery to me and it all went just as he said. His Physical Therapists were just as awesome! The staff was friendly and professional as well, eager to help in any way they could. I would highly recommend Dr. Gautsch if you need any knee or shoulder surgery!

If you think you are ready for TKR, look no further than Dr. Gautsch and his excellent team. I kept waiting and hoping over the last ten years for a silver bullet to avoid TKR for both knees (bone on bone was painful with any activity and made me bowlegged) or even an improved procedure (minimally invasive), and decided i could not wait any longer to enjoy my life to its fullest and finally found a surgeon who puts all the best practices together. With his computer assisted navigation to help ensure a perfect alignment of the knee with minimal cuts and sparing the quad muscle and other soft tissue by making the incision on the inside of knee made sense, my pt was blown away with my progress first week after surgery. I also could not believe that TKR could be done as "outpatient" at the Indian Lakes Surgery Center in Hendersonville and was a little skeptical at first, but both the surgery center and staff all worked like a well oiled machine allowing me to go home the same day.

Dr. Gautsch, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for my new knees. You have no idea what a difference you have made in my life, but you probably do because you are a great surgeon like everybody says you are. And a very kind man, with all those kids. I like your therapists so much to they are tough but help get you where you need to be. Thank you so so much! I hope I don’t have to see you again, but if I do, it will only be you.

My highest recommendation!! Several people at church told me about travelling to Dr. Gaustch for him to do their knee replacement surgery from the side at the surgery center. Without exception, every one of them sings his praises, and now I do too! After my own research, I decided to stop putting it off. I saw him, not an assistant. He explained everything, and I scheduled surgery for 3 weeks later. Everybody at the surgery center was super, especially the nurses and anesthesia Dr. Burt. He took his time with me but still, it all went quickly. The next thing I knew, surgery was done and I was up walking on my own with little discomfort. I've had many days before surgery when my knee hurt way worse. At home a few hours later I didn't even need a cane. By 2 weeks I could go up and down stairs like normal again. In therapy here closer to home, I did much better than everyone else who had regular knee replacement in Nashville, even a month before I did!! Totally worth the trip!! THANK YOU

Gautsch is amazing !!! I had torn my labrum in my left shoulder in May 2018 had surgery in August 2018 with another Dr. in Bowling Green, Ky. Have been in pain sometimes severe ever since. Dr. Gautsch repaired and corrected what the other Dr. botched on December 20 , 2019 now here I am less than 3 weeks after surgery and have NO pain and more range of motion. On my first visit to Gautsch he diagnosed and pinpointed the exact position of my pain and the cause of it. I had been back and forth to the previous Dr. so many times I have lost count as well as physical therapy at multiple locations for 6 months total. I thought I was going to be in pain the rest of my life but with one visit to Gautsch and then Surgery I am 100% pain free !! I highly recommend Dr. Gautsch for any shoulder injuries on top of being a great Dr and surgeon he’s a nice guy , very polite, explains things very well and genuinely cares for his patients.
