I was in for a knee replacement on October 21, 2024. All I can say is, Dr. King and his staff are the best. The minute you walk through the doors till the time you walk out they are there for you. Thank you.

GREAT surgeon...excellent knee 'revision' (repl)
King came highly recommended by any medical personnel I inquired of, (even competitors), PRIOR to beginning to deal with my 12yr old 'failing' 'partial replacement from a VA surgeon. While the office CAN get hectic, I never felt 'rushed'. He listened & explained his treatment plan to replace the 'failing partial knee', and properly stressed that the patient HAS to get involved in physical therapy & the gym for 'proper' healing. I am in my mid-70's and it was clear that he was not looking to do surgery on a 'couch-potato'. I had, and will continue, to regularly work out, so that was not an issue. I have had a good number of knee surgeries and this was, BY FAR, the best process & outcome I could hope for. While I will not imply 'it was a walk in the park' and there was some post-operative pain...I've endured much worse. This replacement surgery has gone extremely well, with essentially 'minimal' pain and I am 'ahead of the curve' in terms of recovery at 3 months out. HIGHLY recommend.

Results not so great
While I thought Dr. King had a good bedside manner and his long time nurse was great, my results were not good. I had a hip replacement that left my foot deviated laterally and PT wasn't bringing it back to parallel to the other foot. I had to do my knee replacement years sooner than planned to straighten the lower leg. It mostly worked but I ended up with one let almost an inch longer than the other. I had to build up my shoes and get an orthotic to make up the difference in length. This has effected my balance and there has been a couple of stumbles and falls due to the discrepancy.

Knee Replacement Surgery
Dr. King performed knee replacement surgery on my left knee in December 2012 and replacement on my right knee on 4/27/22. On the 12/12 surgery, I was on the golf course in 7 weeks. As I am now in my fourth week of recovery from the recent surgery, I am looking forward to teeing it up in six weeks! Great doc and great staff.

I am very likely to recommend Dr. King.
I had total knee replacement surgery on April 13,2022. The results were excellent. Dr. King & his staff educate & inform you about the procedure. His office will schedule laboratory testing & a medical clearance visit with your Primary Care Doctor. Home Physical Therapy will contact you prior to surgery. The CPM machine will be delivered the day before the surgery. Preoperative medication will be prescript & information is given about what to expect your first four days at home & your medication schedule. Portsmouth Regional Hospital offers a Joint Replacement Pre-Operative Class. It is online due to Covid. The dedication & hard work of the team enables the patient to reach her best potential. Physical Therapy is important as you continue to recover from the total knee replacement. Susan Kline

I had a total knee replacement done by Dr. King in February, 2022. I am amazed at how quickly I am healing. At 3 weeks post-op I am able to do stairs normally and walk as much as I'd like although PT will continue until everything is perfect. Dr. King and his entire team have been wonderful to me as everything is explained very clearly, any and all questions are answered, and every team member is totally focused on my full recovery. I highly recommend Dr. King for joint replacement. He is the best!

Dr. King performed a total knee replacement for me and I couldn't be happier with the experience or the result. I am 66 years old. I had a valgus knee where my leg angled off 30% outward (it's now straight). After researching possible orthopedic surgeons, I narrowed it down to Dr. King and one other. I went to the other doctor first and, even though that doctor performs 250 knee replacements a year, decided mine was too complex for him and he declined to do mine. I then went to see Dr. King and am glad I did. He said they could replace the knee and straighten my leg. He expressed no hesitation. Dr. King does day surgery. Thus, I was at the hospital from about 10 a.m. to about 6 pm and then home. At the hospital, I was walking around hours after surgery (with a walker) and even trained on climbing stairs. 3 wks post surgery, I walk 1-2 miles per day without a cane and can drive. Excellent results. Can't recommend Dr. King highly enough. Be sure to use the CPM machine he recommends.

Dr. King performed a total knee replacement for me. The surgery was something I had expected for many years, but I was still surprised at how smoothly it went. I was walking within hours of the surgery, and my recovery has been rapid. It was unusual having surgery during the pandemic, but Dr. King's team did a fantastic job. While I certainly hope I never have to have this sort of surgery again, if needed I would absolutely return to Dr. King.

Total knee replacement on January 20th. I have 130 degree range of motion within 3 weeks, and have had little need for opioid painkillers! Couldn't be happier with the surgery and at this point, the results. Recommend Dr. King without reservation!

i had two total knee replacements by Dr King. One in Feb of 2019 and 5 weeks later. This was the best thing I ever did, having my knees replaced and using Dr King. From the very beginning he and his staff were so caring. The hospital staff that he uses all the time were over the top caring and concerned. My knees are great, I am back hiking and biking again and doing the things I have not been able to do. I was 70 at the time of surgery with no health issues prior. I feel my good outcome was because i used Dr King compared to my friends outcome.

I had two knee replacements in the spring of 2020. The Doctor and his staff explained all parts of my surgery so there were no surprises. After surgery I had in home care that eased my transition into recovery. If I had a problem or a question they were only a phone call away I would highly recommend Dr King and his staff to anyone.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. King as a surgeon to go to if you are in need of a knee replacement. My recovery time was well beyond expectations, based on feedback from a couple of different physical therapists and also friends who had undergone a similar surgery with a different surgeon. I obtained full range of motion within just a few weeks and just six weeks after surgery I am able to easily walk a couple of miles. The CPM machine that Dr. King uses, as well as the regime for pain management are both cutting edge. I highly recommend consultation with Dr. King prior to scheduling surgery with any other surgeon.

I had a total knee replacement on March 9th and went home the same day. The pain management that he prescribed was quite effective. From pre-op to post-op, I felt that I was hand held the whole way, from his office staff to his surgical team, his physician assistants and physical therapist. I can’t say enough about Dr. King. He has perfected quite a system over the years.

Dr King and his team are dedicated to perfecting their skills and your outcome. They are constantly reviewing and tweaking their procedures, always improving. And it pays off for us patients! Dr. King had replaced my right knee 7 years ago and he replaced my left knee 3 weeks ago. The changes in the procedure and my results are stunning. Changes to anesthesia, pain control, immediate PT have all put me way ahead of the curve in comparison to my previous experience. I'm able to do things at 3 weeks that took 2 months to achieve last time. I drive from Lakes Region NH to Portsmouth to work with this team....because they are that good.

Dr. King was performed two total knee replacements on me in the last seven weeks. I couldn't be more pleased with the results! Based on others that I have seen at PT, Dr. King's process and Rapid Recovery is the only way to go. I'm weeks, if not months, ahead of others who have had the same surgery. I'm three weeks post surgery of the second knee and have full range of motion in both, with zero pain and getting close to jogging again. I also need to give a shout out to his entire team and office staff who made the entire process really easy and added a bunch of support throughout the journey. Five stars to all!!!

Dr King has replaced both my right knee and my left knee - 5 1/2 years apart - it's amazing the progress that has been made in those 5 1/2 years! The Avatar program is the BEST ! I arrived at the hospital for my left knee surgery at 5:30am and was home by 5:30pM - minimal meds - great aggressive PT and I am now only 5 weeks out and doing extremely well - I walk normal although a little slow - can do stairs and have my straightening to almost zero and my bend at 123 ! I am very pleased and highly recommend this practice.
