If I could have selected my surgeon it would not have been him. He did a horrible job and I’m still having problems 2 years later. He has a terrible bed side manner.

If I could leave a zero or negative review I would. I had emergency partial hip replacement (ball & stem), did not truly have a choice in the Dr as he was the Dr on call. Set up a different Dr, feel that Dr McDonough overstepped his position when the schedule was not corrected to the new Dr. Over 1 yr later, I am still in terrible pain. Initially after surgery I was placed in a rehab facility, they anticipated my stay to be 4-6 wks, however after a week of no PT and horrible conditions, we checked out. Continued PT at home for 3 months and then also outpatient PT for addl 3 months. His early response to the pain was ‘it just needs to heal’ and it could take a year to feel normal. Over a yr later still in terrible pain, not able to walk comfortably for even 1/2 block, need assistance to get up out of chairs or bed sometimes, use a walker or a cane from time to time. Terrible bed side manner. I would not recommend this Dr to my worst enemy. Feel I may be looking at addl surgery.

This guy has terrible bedside manners. I wouldn’t recommend him to fix a bycycle tire flat. Awful follow-up after surgery for my knee after I had meniscus repair surgery with him. Still in pain over a year afterwards. Don’t use him I feel you want professional medical advise. Your better off looking it up I need a search engine.

I found Dr McDonough to be nice with a decent bedside manner. I was hospitalized and he was called in for a consult. Problems started rearing their ugly head. I honestly didn’t feel he knew exactly what to do with me. TRIED to asperate my joint, and after several VERY painful attempts he gave up! Looking for infection, joint double the size and no fluid? I felt he just went thru the motions. Did have infection &surgery shortly after, different Dr and hospital. Not sure he still wants to be Dr?

Had shoulder surgery two years ago. Still have very little functionality. My post surgery explanation of the surgery only involved him pointing at my shoulder stating I fixed all of that in there. My ability to do anything with my shoulder is very limited. For months and then over a year later the post surgery recommendation was I needed more PT. I did PT for nine months most out of pocket. My shoulder now looks deformed and I feel I am going to have to go through another for any quality life.

Saw Dr. McDonough for a moderate/severely sprained ankle. Basically a quick review of x-rays (no fracture), said I could start walking soon with wrap and boot. Not a lot of other discussion for reducing swelling, ice vs heat, when to consider and start physical therapy, or other guidance for recovery. Dr. McDonough also didn't show much in the way of bedside manner or compassion - like a sprained ankle is no big deal. Just a lackluster appointment and ortho experience overall. Not recommended.

If you're ever in need of an orthopedic surgeon, I highly recommend Dr. McDonough. I suffered a terrible injury and he was meticulous with the emergency surgery I underwent. He and his nurse Heather are always prompt in responsiveness and great about answering all of my questions. Dr. McDonough has been reassuring and inspiring throughout my recovery process.
