Wonderful doctor
He is truly caring and genuine. He makes you feel truly important in your care. I am so glad he took me on a referral two years ago.

Very bad experience with endoscopy
He does not listen to patient's concerns. After an endoscopy, I was in excruciating pain because he did not look at the upper esophagus, missing that I have a stricture with a pseudodiverticulum. I was told my symptoms were in my head. His physician assistant diagnosed me. Soon after that the PA and I left his practice.

Although knowledgeable and professional, failed to ask; "How do you feel?". It's not just how much the physician knows, but that the patient can trust and knows their physician cares. Failed to share how his Gastroenterology department interacts and coordinates with the Primary Physician in charge of patient care. Sharing the treatment plan and potential paths that may occur are critical, but were lacking when I was treated by Dr. Thomas McGahan. I would not return to Dr. McGahan for future care

I saw Dr. McGahan 2 years ago. He ordered many tests & then recommended radical surgery. Thankfully I had the good sense to get a 2nd opinion & held off on surgery. I found a different GI doc & higly recommend you do too!

Dr. McGahan is very knowledgeable and professional.. I have seen him over the last eight years for three colonoscopies. plus an endoscopy. He takes time for detailed explanations. I would recommend him for any necessary procedures.

Yesterday I had a colonoscopy and polypectomy by Dr. McGahan. He and his team did a magnificent job-- totally painless, no postoperative discomfort, no groginess, no bleeding. All pre and postoperative instructions and consultations were clear and understandable. I would recommend him highly,

I have seen Dr. McGahan for approximately ten years. My prior experiences with GI care was less than optimal. Dr McGahan is an excellent clinician, listens to me as his patient, explains procedures in an understandable way, answers my questions and responds quickly to any questions I may have. I would definately recommend him to family and friends.

The man went to Notre Dame, what more do you need to know? Seriously, it is apparent that Doctor McGahan applied himself diligently to his studies, in high school, here in Atlanta at Marist, then at University, and in his medical studies at Emory . He is articulate, informed, experienced and compassionate. My initial consultation with him found him to be pleasant, courteous, and genuinely concerned about my condition. The exams were thorough, painless and his staff was completely professional.

I had my first appointment with Dr. McGahan today. I waited 1.5 hours for my scheduled appointment My time with Dr. McGahan took approximately 10 minutes. Dr. McGahan is one of the rudest doctors I've encountered - he icuts you off and treats you with complete disrespect. He spent most of our 10 minutes together typing on his laptop barking questions at me, never allowing me to answer. I WOULD NEVER recommend him. I will refuse to pay for my visit EVEN if my insurance covers it.

Dr McGahan is an excellent Doctor and very compassionate. I had an endoscopy done by him and everyone on his staff is professional and caring. Dr McGahan took time to explain the procedure and called me personally to discuss my results and follow up. If you are looking for the best you have found him. It is a rare find to find a doctor who is excellent in his profession and also compassionate.

Please beware of this very inconsiderate so-called professional. I was referred to him by another physician and have never been more disappointed in an individual that you give not only your healthcare assessment but your trust as well. I will never be back to his office other than to obtain copies of my medical records.

My associates had warned me of the lack of bedside manner, but Dr. McGahan was not only unhelpful but had a complete lack of compassion for my GI problems. I came to him with severe abdominal pain and he told me if I wanted a scan he would order one but he didn't see any need. After being diagnosed with IBS in 2007 I recently had been suffering with severe pain that interfered with my job. He dismissed my symptoms and said it was probably something I ate, even though I had the pain for 4 days.
