Dr. Thomas Newman III, MD

Saw this Doctor back in January and received a bill today (3 months later) that I owed over $500.00 the initial charge was over $1,400.00. I have insurance so they charged me 6 times the cost to see a regular doctor without insurance. They did this because I have insurance. I guarantee if I had no insurance the charge would be way less. It’s just absolutely absurd.

I went to the ER with severe pain in my neck and shoulder radiating down my left arm. I have a history of back problems and understand the many workings of the back. The pain radiating down my arm is not normal and has lasted over a week. Obviously a pinched nerve in the spine. Dr. Newman seemed to be bothered that I came into the ER due to the pain and not being able to sleep for several days due to the pain. He gave me a shot and one pain killer and left. We waited and waited finally a nurse came in and said we could leave. I asked if that was all he was going to do? He said that's all they can do. No x-rays, no pain meds for the weekend, nothing. He decided to get x-rays after I asked, then when I went to the restroom, he came in the room explained things to my wife and left, never explained anything to me. I asked for him to come explain to me and he sent a nurse instead. So I had to suffer all weekend until I could see my pain specialist the following week.
