Dr. Thomas O'Gara, MD

I'm a 50 year old reno born patient. My entire family has been with this group my entire life. (Dr Smirnoff delivered me from my mother) No other family medicine physicians compare. Dr Thomas O'Gara is exceptional. Excellent bed side manner. Friendly, kind, compassionate and empathetic. Complete, thorough, admirable, educational and gentle. His knowledge has proven itself with more than 20 of my immediate family members trusting his practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. O’ Gara since 1994 and he has given me the best treatment I’ve ever had, not slow to refer to specialists. He takes his time and listens well.

You cannot get through to a human on the phone and they take DAYS to call back. I’ve had a prescription refill request pending for over a week (i really need it). The pharmacy has faxed it over twice, I’ve left multiple messages to no avail.

I want to start off be saying I really like Dr, O’Gara but if you need to schedule an appointment or talk to a live person good luck! They do not have staff that actively answers calls. You are either stuck spending an hour on hold or you have to leave a message on a medical assistant’s vm and you never know when you will hear back! I have been trying to schedule an appointment all week because I desperately need to be seen, I was called back before business hours by the MA who told me to call back to schedule an appointment and I have left 3 messages last 3 days and NEVER heard back! Despite how much I like my primary Dr. but if it takes this much time and effort to make an appointment, I need to find another physician. I have never in my life had such a difficult time trying to connect with my Doctor.

I’ve see Dr. O’Gara for over 30 years and am so grateful he has been my PCP. Amazing, intuitive and comforting. Even the office and medical staff have been like family. What a blessing! Thank yo sooooo much!

First of all, Dr. O'Gara himself is a great guy, and I think he's probably a really good doctor. He's always pleasant, professional, and is genuinely interested in how his patients are feeling. That being said, either he or his office dropped the ball in my case, and I can no longer trust the level of care that they provide. After a standard wellness check w/blood work, I was informed that I had type 2 diabetes. After receiving that shocking news, I checked my previous wellness blood work (I did not realize that I could see those online, and not through my doctor). It turns out my A1C numbers were pre-diabetic and rising for the last two tests, and no one from Dr. O'Gara's office called, emailed, or left any messages. Within the first 3 months of my diagnosis, I brought my A1C numbers down to 5.8 from 8.5, so I'm pretty sure I could have avoided this if I had only known. As nice as Dr. O'Gara is, I just can't trust him or his office any longer.

I have been to Dr. O'Gara several times over the last 15 years. He is friendly and personable, and takes time to listen and discuss options.

I have been seeing Doctor O'Gara since 1996. Awesome doctor. I will never go to anyone else.

Dr O'Gara is a great family physician who takes the time to listen to you and then plan a course of action to make sure you get the treatment you need. Very personable and a real pleasure to have as my primary care physician.

This doctor is fine as long as there’s nothing that goes wrong with your teeth. He is not good at all at helping you get into see him when you are in pain. Even as a long term established patient, he Made no effort to help even though the problem was his responsibility. I was left in pain for a very long time

Great doctor! Been going to him for 18 years. I will wait to see him which can sometimes take up to three hours. He’s very patient, kind, and kind. Does not rush you out of the visit, even as busy as he is. Office staff and medical assistance are absolutely rude. If he wasn’t such sa great doctor I would leave the practice. I feel that the staff gets ruder and rider every time I go. Very condescending at anything you ask them as if it’s a privilege that one is a patient there.

Excellent doctor. Always attentive, efficient, addresses my concerns, asks open questions, and is always friendly and easy to talk to. Great staff as well. Dr. O'Gara does not schedule appointments; he takes walk-ins only, so expect to wait. Once you're in the room though, he gets to you quickly (10-20 mins).

He was very pleasant, his staff friendly, and he listens to your problems and diagnoses it with confidence. I was recommended to Dr O'Gara from a pain specialist Dr Steve Berman when I asked him for a good family doctor.

Dr O'Gara is outstanding! He has a great personality, very communicative, and extremely knowledgable. He diagnosed a problem I had been having for 5 years, which other doctors had completely missed. I have the utmost confidence in his opinions, decisions and knowledge. He listens to my concerns and is able to communicate/explain his opinions/decisions.
