Not a better doctor out there.
Dr. Shih use to be my cardiologist when she practice and I lived in Illinois. I first met her was I was in my late 20s. I have been looking for a cardiologist for many years now that measures up to her. I miss her dearly and would give anything for her to be my doctor again. I've seen reviews about her being rude and not listening. Yes she will tell it to you straight which may come off as rude but it's because she cares and wants the best for you. After my 1st appointment with her, I came home and told my wife I couldn't stand her. But I stayed and it was the best thing for me. She can be blunt, but sometimes you need that. I have never in my 50 years had a doctor that cared for me as much as her and I respect her more then all other doctors combined that I have dealt with.

Good telemedicine experience
Telehealth
It was my first time to do telemedicine and Dr. Shih was assigned to my case. She was very upfront and direct with the consultation. She prescribed medication that I needed. She was pleasant to talk to and would do another consult with her.Thank you, Dr. Shih!

Best doctor I've ever had
Dr. Shih was my cardiologist for 8 years when she was practicing in Illinois. Her communication style is very direct and can take some getting used to if you're used to people sugar-coating everything they say. But it didn't take long for me to understand what a kind and caring person she is. I miss her dearly, and I am so grateful for the care I received from her and her team.

Dismissive
She was rude. Only concentrated on the form I completed and not my current symptoms. She was stern about being on “a lot” of meds (1/2 for allergies) and then scolded me multiple times that I wasn’t on a preventative steroid. Huh?? She didn’t listen to me breathe yet was able to conclude there was no audible wheezing. A few seconds in, I had regretted this entire experience and the tightness in my chest was becoming more constricted. I wanted it over, but it didn’t end. She failed to ensure that my Rx went through. Why did I bother? This was a telemed visit and her best advice was that I see my regular dr. She wasn’t helpful and had no trust in the virtual process. For this type of visit, I strongly urge a different doctor unless you want to feel worse than you already do.

Clinically Superb, No-nonsense Internist
Dr. Shih is superb--so good that many people on the Sky Ridge Medical Center executive team chose her to be their personal physician. She was known to spend lunch hours visiting her patients who were in the adjacent hospital. She didn't get paid for that because the patients were under the hospitalist group's care--it was a purely social visit to support the patient and family. She has a very direct speaking style without a lot of extra fluffy words. She's not a pushover for patients who are looking for antibiotics and other meds outside of medical guidelines, which is what a lot of these telemed patients were obviously seeking. I would bet $100 that any of these complaints reviewed by Dr. Shih's physician peers would yield exactly the same clinical decision. These are patients who didn't get what they wanted. Look at the syntax pattern on the 1 star reviews...several appear to be written by the same person!

Pathetic
Wish I could give 0 stars, 1 is too generous. I had symptoms that she basically just dismissed and as I was trying to formulate the next thing I was saying, she ended the chat.

Unfeeling Incompetence x10,000
This provider was absolutely unkind and wholly dismissive of my rather routine medical complaints. She said my symptoms didn't match my condition and refused to prescribe routine medication that I have taken for years (without any issues) for acute management of my symptoms. I've never been treated with such disrespect. She invalidated my pain, engaged in forceful gaslighting, and hung up on me during a telehealth visit!!!! Absolutely unconscionable that this person can practice medicine.

Extremely unprofessional
Horrible. I was connected with this doctor through the K Heath app and it was the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. She claimed my symptoms did not match what I presumed to be my problem and when I asked her to please give more detail as to why they did not match she told me to join the medical profession, go to school and become a doctor so I can learn all the symptoms myself. She then proceeded to “hang up” the chat. I have severe anxiety and am basically having a panic attack right now because I’m so upset.

I was given Dr. Shih on the K health app. She recommended over the counter drugs for a nasal infection. After stating that I already tried that and that it didn't work and would like a stronger prescription, I was completely ignored and she refused to end the chat so I could talk with another doctor. Conclusion: If you like to be ghosted and ignored, I would highly recommend her. Otherwise, no.

Extremely rude and arrogant. Some people in medicine, especially those having a title, think they are superior to patients. Those thoughts are faulty. This woman is a perfect example on how you should not behave as a doctor.
