I'm a graduate student. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder by my previous psychiatrist. I felt very anxious, tired, and could not concentrate after taking two mood stabilizers. I was referred to Nashville Brain Institute by a friend. Dr. Tang did psychological testing and personality testing and told me that I might have anxiety and ADHD. He changed my medicines for anxiety and ADHD. I felt much better since the change of the treatment. The clinic staff are professional and friendly. They did require a refundable deposit for the first appointment, which was uncommon, but understandable.

The Check in staff are very friendly and professional. Minimal waiting time. Time with Dr. Tang was comfortable. He was willing to listen to my concerns and gave me the recommendations. I have had severe depression and tried numerous medications. I was suspicious about the ketamine nasal spray treatment in the beginning. After 3 treatment, I noticed that my mood improved dramatically. My family also noticed the change. I would recommend Dr. Tang’s services to others.

Do not go to this place or refer any of your loved ones to this place. I should have listened to all the bad reviews I saw. All they care about is money. This was my first psychiatrist visit as a civilian and I was extremely nervous and having severe panic attack while in their office and no one cared or did anything to help me. Dr. Tang spent about 15 minutes hardly talking to me, only asking me a few questions and then diagnosing me based only on the few questions he asked. He then sat in silence as I cried while he put in all my prescriptions and did not explain anything to me nor did he explain what I was supposed to do with all the prescriptions I was currently taking. He did not make me feel comfortable and I felt like I was inconveniencing him by sitting in his office crying. At the end of my appointment I was forced to pay a deposit of $150 that I was not told about prior to my appointment because they needed to make sure my insurance would pay.

What a joke of a doctor's office. I left my visit with Nashville Brain Institute feeling more discouraged than when I arrived. Dr. Tang spent a whopping 10 minutes with me (as a new patient I might add), stared at his computer the entire time, asked very few questions, and then stated he had sent several prescriptions to my pharmacy. As shocked as I was that he'd supposedly diagnosed me and thrown medicine my way that quickly, my anger and disdain grew when I realized later that they never even had me fill out past medical history/allergies paperwork -- nor was it discussed in the appointment itself. I decided to share my poor experience with their office and sent an email describing my visit and lack of care. Their response was even more off-putting as it was one excuse after another and made it very clear the money is all they are after. Beware of making a mental health appointment with this group. It's not worth your time, energy, or money.

Dr Tang is Top Notch and a Great Listener, which is rare among Psychiatrists in my local area which is 2hrs 25min away and worth every mile. He is understanding about how God is absolutely integral in my treatment as much as science. I feel safe at Nashville Brain Institute and they’ll be my care team for as long as they’ll have me. I thank God for these folks! I highly recommend them to others! Take care y’all

I've had 29 - 30 TMS treatments in Dr. Tang's Nashville office and two other visits at his Hermitage office. I thought both he and Taylor Fife were very professional in administering the treatments. Equally important, I thought they were both very good and patient in explaining the answers to my many questions about the treatment. Put differently, they treated me as individual-despite the large volume of patients going through the office. I would give very high marks to Dr. Tang's office staff of Sally, Stacia, Steven, and Diane. In September I thought some of the wait times were long compared to Dr. Chalko's scheduling. I think this was due to the initial absorption of Dr. Chalko's practice. However the wait times became quite reasonable (especially for my TMS treatments) during the remainder of the fall months. Given the two locations of the practice, scheduling could overall bear some improvement. Although to be clear, I think it is pretty good all things considered.

I was referred to this doctor when mine retired. I find the office to be unprofessional with long waits/overbooking each time. They are in my network but keep billing with the wrong code so my insurance denies the claims. They told me on my 4th appt when I checked in so I had to pay out of pocket. Going back and forth from insurance to office, the office refuses to help me and now I probably owe $945 for 3 visits charge to ins at $315 each. I agree with what another review said: the doctor is typing the whole time you are in front of him and I only saw him one time of 4.

Extremely displeased with the quality of care and deceptive billing practices at Nashville Brain Institute. Dr Tang was 45 minutes late to the appointment scheduled to establish care. Beyond being excessively late Dr Tang only bothered to spend 15 minutes with my wife before shuffling her out the door. From a billing standpoint when we reached out to schedule an appointment to establish care we asked if Dr Tang was covered under our insurance. We were informed that he wasn't but would be by the time of the appointment. Upon arrival to the appointment we were informed that he was not yet covered and that the cost of the appointment would be $150. We paid the $150 and were greeted with an additional bill for over $250 even though we were told that the appointment would be no more than the $150. (Essentially this means the doctor charges an hourly rate of $1,600) To add to the confusion the offices website states that appointments are either $150 or $200 to establish care depending on if

My first visit was $200.00. I’m self pay. I was in his office no longer than 5 min. My doctor retired so this was my first visit. No prescription and said his nurse practitioner would start to see me next month. I was told it may be $100.00, but not sure. They will see me monthly until they get to know me. I’ve been treated and on maintenance medications for 20years. I feel like it’s all about money so I’m debating whether to go back or not.

He appears to work more with treatment alternatives to medicine like TMR and ketamine nose spray ect. He is very nice but doesn't acknowledge anything you say to him about what your issues and concerns are. He types the whole time putting info on his computer about the info he wants to know only. If you are looking for alternatives to meds only, then he may be a good fit. Also, you have to pay deposits of $150, $75, $75 for initial and follow up appts in case your insurance doesn't pay. Supposedly he will write you a check for the balance if insurance pays. He accepts my insurance and is on my physicians list with my insurance. Normally have a $40 copay for psychiatric. Have a feeling I lost $110. Won't be going back.
