Dr. JOHANS did an amazing job on my L5 herniated disk repair surgery. I highly recommend him. He met with me in person in office and before the surgery, patiently explaining everything in detail. His office staff was excellent and responsive with all my questions. His expertise in minimizing pain made it so I only used the hydrocodone a few times. I was amazed to feel so good so quickly after the surgery.

Dr. Johans is the most trust worthy and outstanding doctor I have ever encountered. He took time every visit to really explain this and was extremely down to earth. He has the best bed side manners I’ve ever seen with a doctor. He completed fusion on my neck for 3 vertebrae with no complications. I now have no more pain in my arms and am regaining strength that was lost. I am so thankful for him and really thought there was no one who could help me before finding him. He is honest and will hear your concerns. He is so knowledgeable and could tell me what was going on with me from his evaluation prior to reviewing any imaging which really spoke volumes about his expertise. Thank you Dr. Johans! With pain down my left arm, & numbness & tingling from elbow into my fingers, it was time to seek a neurosurgeon. After researching and reading reviews I found Dr Johans. My initial visit with Dr Johans not only confirmed that my stenosis had worsened but affirmed that he would be the best choice, as my surgeon. His demeaner and professionalism was top-notch. My Xray-MRI showed that there was little, to no space, between C4-C7. I needed a triple fusion which was very frightening to say the least. Dr Johans explained the entire process and surgery, in detail, so that I understood exactly what to expect. On surgery day I was extremely anxious. Dr Johans comforted me & assured me that I was in the best of hands. His confidence and compassion helped relieve my anxiety as he takes great pride in what he does. Post-surgery I experienced minimal pain. Today I am pain free! I can't thank him and his team enough! He is a miracle worker with a knife. A very kind, caring & professional doctor.

Dr Johans said my spinal issue was so bad I needed surgery immediately. He scared me enough that I had surgery a week later. After the procedure the doctor said, “Wow! that surgery was a (word that rhymes with witch and starts with a b)” and “God certainly didn’t do you any favors by giving you that spine”. There was no follow up the next day with doc or his PA before I was released from the hospital. Only follow up was 4 weeks later. The doc dismissed my concerns about my foot being completely numb (it was not numb before surgery) and that my back pain was worse than before. Surgery was done at a surgical center he is part owner of, and there were problems with the nurse not knowing how to get me up and walking. Also, the anesthesiologist came in and apologized to me the next day because my IV blew out in the middle of the surgery and I guess I woke up. Thankfully I don’t remember that. Not a positive experience. Still having back issues a few years later.

Because of the loss of the use of my right arm it was decided that cervical fusion was the best course to try to reverse the loss. Dr Johans explained the procedure in detail and I decided the treatment was my only option. The surgery and recovery both went well. After three months I have already recovered some of the use of my arm and it seems stronger every week. Dr Johans has done a great deal for me and I could not ask for better results.

I am so grateful for Dr Johans. He had better technology to help with my neck so I didn't have to have a spinal fusion. He explained what was going on and my different options to fix it. Thank you Dr. Johans for my two-level cervical arthroplasty that has given me my life back at 39 yrs of age, when all the other surgeons wanted to fuse my neck and squeeze every last cent from my insurance to line their pockets. Dr Johans recently performed my cervical discectomy and arthroplasty. Entire experience from consultation through surgical stay at Treasure Valley Hospital was fantastic. Dr Johans was up front about the reasoning behind the recommended course of treatment and I feel that those recommendations were with my best interests in mind.
