Dr. Travis McKenzie, MD

I saw Dr McKenzie for a surgery. He started off by telling me to ask my questions bc he heard I had several. He responded with 1 word answers, stopped answering the questions & responded off topic. When I said I had no more questions he just bolted out of the room. He didn’t explain surgery procedure or risks. I felt that he really hated questions and I was afraid to ask him anything else before surgery. I had a 2/3 chance of cancer, so I was afraid to delay surgery by trying to get a different surgeon. I went through the next couple of weeks not knowing how high my chances of bleeding out or other complications were. I wrote an “anonymous” review with Mayo & I mentioned that he didn’t explain these things. He sent his resident to my pre-op room, moments before my surgery, & explained surgical risks & procedure. I was in pre-op, and that’s too late to Ed me on surgery risks. He’s the doc. He should have done this before, IMO. He didn’t tell me he left surgical clips in my body.

I’m so happy I took the drive (1-1/2 hrs) to go to Mayo in Rochester to have my surgery!! Well organized, friendly staff and awesome care. Dr. Travis McKenzie and his team were the best!!
