Dr. Umar Choudry, MD

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at M Health Maple Grove. Choudry was assigned to my case and I've been working with him for a year since my mastectomy. I'm at the stage of reconstrution and have had a wonderful experience with this doctor. Dr. Choudry was very professional and great at explaining the process from start to finish. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

I had a consultation scheduled weeks in advance for a 1:30pm appt. I checked in on time and was roomed. After waiting a half an hour for the doctor, an intern came in and talked to me and asked questions but then said the doctor would be in and to ask him any questions i may have. After waiting another half an hour the doctor never came. I ended up getting dressed and leaving before ever seeing Dr. Choudry. If you’re planning a surgery it would appear he is not the best with his schedule or time management skills. At least let someone know you’re running late especially mid day when people had to leave work for the appointment. An hour an 15 minutes I won’t get back!

His nurse was extremely rude and condescending. During my visit I didn’t feel listened to or validated. Left with a pit in my stomach.

He is very personable and professional and takes the time to answer questions without rushing out of the room.

Friendly, easy to talk to, he didn’t think my insurance would pay for my leaking implants and told me they would be fine. I on the other hand wanted they out are everyone in my family had had or died of cancer and mine were the textured kind. I had to fight with my insurance company, thank goodness I documented the date, time and name of the person who assured me it would be covered. It should be written in to law if they are leaking silicone, the insurance company has to cover the removal and reconstruction. My removal was covered, not reconstruction because they thankfully didn’t find cancer. The day of surgery, Dr Choudry was kind, assuring, patient and great. I have flat scars. No thick bubbled scar tissue like the original surgery. I was amazed and happy. I would recommend him for plastic surgery because all of my surgery scars on my body are not smooth like these. Definitely 5 stars! He was right, it wasn’t cancer but I didn’t want it to turn in to it.

Don't use this doctor for breast reconstruction if you want to stay a small size. I'm an A and wanted to keep my natural size and made this very clear. He told me that the smallest he could make me was a B and that he'd have to augment the other side. He kept showing me pictures of women larger than me and when I kept saying they were too big for me, he said that a lot of women think being bigger is a bonus. He couldn't understand why I wanted to reconstruct if I was going to stay so small.

I do not like going to the doctor in general, but this doctor is wonderful. He has answered questions that no other doctor will look into. I have waited 10 years to find the right doctor when it comes to my issue & I think I have found him... I feel very comfortable with this team and that says a lot in itself.. They are professional and have a great bed side manner... That is hard to find these days.. Thank you Doc!!
