Dr. Sechkin not for me
I met with him the first time, and he told me right away that the last psychiatrist that I had (for many years, who retired) should not be giving me the medication I was on. I was not happy that this was the first time I was going to him and he already had an opinion about what I was taking and how it was working for me. I will not go back.

I was his patient for many years. He tried to switch my antipsychotic medication to another one, but he didn't do it with a cross-tapering method and therefore I had horrible withdrawal effects.

I arrived late - had confused the time. He was very kind about it. He is empathetic, listens carefully and makes useful suggestions.. and he is very pleasant.

at first, I like him because he offered theories that were actually applicable to my life. I called the day before to cancel my appointment because I was sick, including that call I called 3 times in 1 week. he NEVER called me back, therefore I ran out of my medicine and now my body had to go thru hell adjusting without...i didn't sleep for a week! I was thinking this was some sort of mental punishment for giving him a 24 hr notice for cancellation. now, I will not go back to him because he will

He is a wealth of knowledge and experience. To be honest at first introduction I didn't think he would be a good fit as my doctor; but in less then 40 mins. he managed to get me to open up to him with (almost) complete honesty more then I have to any other therapist. I also did not feel like he was judging me instead trying to understand and think about what I was telling him.
