Dr. Vilas Saldanha, MD

Urgent call from Mom, crying with extreme pain. She had fallen back, tripping over her dog. Immediately drove over to her home in Cedar Park, calling an ambulance to take her to a hospital. The Ambulance driver told me that clearly she had a broken hip and that in his opinion, she needed to be taken to St. Davids in RR, because they have the best track record for this type of surgery. Dr. Saldanha showed up early the next morning, reviewed the X-Rays that showed severely breaking her hip off at the knob and it had twisted. Dr. assured Mom that with a new hip the pain would be gone and she would get back to her busy life.Surgery and followup went well. St. Davids kept her there in the rehab and physical therapy ward for two weeks. Shes dancing, has dinner with friends every evening and walks without a cane! She says there’s no pain and doesn’t have any side effects; feels perfectly normal. And now my 70 year old wife of 52 years needs a hip replacement, so we’re going to Dr. Saldanha

He treated my broken foot and discharged me with dx of nondisplaced fracture. After months of physical therapy that did not restore normal functioning, I consulted with another orthopedic doctor who found it had healed so badly displaced that it now needs reconstructive surgery with bone graft and screws. This apparently should have been done at the time of the break. Now, long after the injury, I have to go through another prolonged period of non weight bearing in a cast, etc. I feel Dr. Saldanha didn't care about my mobility issues. I would not recommend him.

I went in for a consult on having both hips replaced because both were bone to bone. Dr. Saldanha was gracious, respectful of my concerns, answered every question and had a great deal of empathy and encouragement for the quality of life change ahead for me. Never did I feel rushed, or was I ever made to feel anything less than the whole staff was there to support my surgery needs and a positive outcome! After the surgery and follow up appointment, the care continued to be first rate and the expectations Dr. Saldanha set for post surgery were spot on in every aspect.

Amazing human

My experience with Dr. Saldanha was excellent. I had been seeing another Doctor who had differing concerns about my knee. When I went in to see Dr Saldanha, he made me feel at ease, examined my knee, and very kindly told me that it was time to get it replaced. He explained the procedure, what to expect, and fully answered my questions. I've heard that when you get a joint replaced, it's a very painful thing. The first few days were rough,, but Dr Saldanha and his team stayed on top of that, and within a week I was comfortable walking around the house without support. There was no fear in the getting the procedure done or in recovery. PT keeps in touch, and while I wouldn't say it was fun, I can say I'd do it again without any qualms.

Extremely kind mannered. Very through with exam and explaining his diagnosis. Seems very conservative in his approach to my treatment with no rush to do surgery. He suggested we start with cortisone & antinflammatory injection. I would certainly recommend him. So glad to have him in Williamson County. Thank you for your service Dr. Saldanha.

Dr. Saldanha did a complete hip replacement for me and I have been more than happy with my results. I had very little pain and I was walking without assistance at a little over five weeks. I have been treated with the utmost respect and dignity by Dr. Saldanha and his entire staff. I would recommend Dr. Saldanha to anyone who needed any of his services, he takes the very best of care for you.

Dr. Saldanha, has done an excellent job on my knees. His patience and smile give patients reassurance and the trust that everything will be fine.

My 88 year old mother in law broke her hip on a Saturday morning at 4:30 a.m. Being new to Austin we didn't know where to begin to go for help, but she was taken to the St. David medical center hospital in Round Rock where we met Dr. Saldanha. He was the most well informed, reassuring Doctor we have ever had! He answered all our questions in terms we could easily understand and was confident he could fix her hip and get her walking again. And her recovery has been excellent! I'm a retired RN. :)

Dr is kind considerate and attentive. He listens and provides options. He allowed me to have input. He provided information and checked for understanding.
