Rude
Dr. Rappa was incredibly rude to me on the phone when discussing my Mom, a patient at one of the rehab facilities for which Dr. Rappa services. He was dismissive and rushed me off the phone redirecting me to the Nursing Dept., which actually referred me to him. He didn't want to be bothered with me or my Mom. Even if my issue was to be handled by another area, he should be nicer and professional with patients and their families who are managing difficult issues.

Abandoned Patients
I had an appt scheduled for early Dec 2021. His office called to cancel it due to building construction and I have been unable to have any contact with him since, despite two messages left with his receptionist and two emails I sent directly to him. No response on any of these; no opportunity for a telehealth appt. or even a phone conversation. Nothing. It is now seven months later, and I am in the process of trying to get my medical records so I can find a new pcp, and I’m sorry because I liked Dr Rappa very much and thought he was an outstanding practitioner. Truly wonderful. But he has disappeared with no outreach to his patients whatsoever.

This doctor cancelled my appointments three times. It happened once that a receptionist could not find the appointment I made. The last cancelation was made on the same day, while I was fasting to get an annual physical. The doctor himself may not be bad, but this office is totally disorganized and the doctor is inaccessible.

Dr Rappa doesnt have any compassion for his patients. My mother is 98 years old with dementia, she had a surgery on both legs and now she is at rehab. Dr Rappa came at night (!) when she was sleeping to remove 24 stiches without any pain killers or anestetic (!), didnt pay attention that his elderly patient was screeming and crying. she didnt sleep after that whole night and her dementia got worse.

I have found Dr. Rappa to be a very caring Physician. He is honest about treatments. He takes time with his patience to help and explain to them what they need. He is also like a friend. He is extremely thorough. His office manager is always helpful. When my husband and I need appointments she sets them them up. If we need prescriptions she takes care of it right away. She is friendly and sweet.

Although this doctor may be great, his receptionist is far from. She is uneducated and unprofessional. She refused to schedule an appointment for me and even proceeded to hang up the phone on me. She has no sympathy for the sickly or accommodating patients. You will be shocked at the treatment you receive.

I've been Dr.Rappa's patient almost since the day he started to practice (c. 19 years), and he's really the ideal primary care physician: he's thorough, rever rushes, has a genuinely healing, empathic presence and loves the art of diagnosis. He also loves to explain medical stuff without a trace of condescension. If he's taking on new patients and you need a great doctor (and you have the coverage, of course), he's a fabulous choice.

Dr.Rappa is an excellent example of how doctors should treat patients. No matter how far behind his schedule he might be, when he examines you, there is never a rush. You are his only concern and time is not an issue. He goes beyond just dealing with the immediate cause of your visit and often asks about other problems from the past to make sure he has a full update on your health. He is knowledgeable, personable and very caring - a wonderful combination.
