Dr. Valentine is truly a professional. He’s blunt and you either understand his personality and dry wit or you don’t, but I am so glad my family trusted my mothers CF care and transplant with him. After being denied by a pulmonologist in Dallas for a double lung transplant due to finances and basically told that we didn’t have enough money to save my moms life, my mom found a charity that covered the cost of transplant in Galveston, where Dr. Valentine was the specialist. He was an absolute professional and expert in field and provided the highest level of care. We always left the office feeling like a friend, able to joke and catch up with him during checkups and were so disappointed when the lung transplant unit was disintegrated at the hospital for funding, because we had so much trust in Dr. Valentine. He gave my mom a second chance at life and we were so thankful for the many more years he gave us with her. I 1000% would recommend him to any CF patient hands down- he’s top notch.

Dr Valentine is a knowledgeable doctor but his bedside manner and empathy are seriously lacking. He is not very understanding if you are having any problems outside his specialty. He does not understand nor does he try to understand any mental health issues. After I had received a lung transplant I was periodically having severe anxiety attacks and struggling with depression and was unable to focus or concentrate. He would not give me medication when suffering severe anxiety attacks while hospitalized and would get annoyed and tell me I should just calm down. Depression, Anxiety and inability to concentrate are very common after a major surgery.
