Dissappointed at the Least
The whole experience was a nightmare..I had lumbar fusion surgery and was not provided adequate pain relief..Today, a year later. I am in more pain than before i saw this doctor and my life is ruined..I have to use a cane and i walk hunched over like im 100 yrs old..If u need back help, go to Denver like i am doing now..Nuerosurgery on the western slope is horrendous..The doctors do the surgery and then pawn u off to their PA's who lack the knowledge to appropiately help u..

Good surgeon, poor post surgical care
After my surgery, I was placed on minimal meds, much less than I was taking before my surgery so the meds were ineffective. I called his PA who told me to take extra of the meds and they would refill my Rx since I was going to run out early. The pharmacy needed doctor approval to fill the meds early and when I asked Ceola to call the pharmacy, I was grilled about running through my meds early. I explained that his PA gave me the directions to take the extra meds and after a 10 minute argument, he reluctantly approved a minimal refill and told me that was the last Rx I was getting. This was two days after my surgery. It was the most painful recovery I have ever had after a surgery. It appears, from speaking with other patients, that Ceola prescribes the same amount of medication, to each person, regardless of pain level or past medical history and only treats pain for days after. He is a good surgeon but needs to get out of his way for post surgical care.

Great doc.
Dr Ceola and staff members spent about two hours with my wife and me discussing my condition and his treatment recommendation. His explanations were very clear, and he was very patient in making sure we understood precisely what his proposed surgery and plan of treatment would accomplish. I highly recommend Dr. Ceola.

Very likely
Nurses and PA were knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Dr. Ceola spent more time explaining the problem and providing his expert guidance to resolving the problem than any physician has ever done.

This was my last visit with Dr Ceola and his team after my back surgery in November. I am very pleased with everything they have helped me with. My surgery went really well and I continue to get stronger each month. The team has kept me informed about all the results and I know what I need to continue to work on. Thank you all very much

Dr Ceola patiently and thoroughly detailed my condition guiding me through the MRI and CAT scans. He used cervical models and videos to clearly explain the suggested procedure and answer my 2 pages of questions. Very easy to talk to and made time for my somewhat urgently needed procedure.

Do not go to this Doctor. I am a Disabled Veteran. Dr Cealo did a fusion L2-L5 Aug 5 2015. I've had nothing but issues. Finally the VA sent to to two other Neuro Surgeons. Both said the procedure and materials Dr Cealo used on me were discontinued after 2003. The screws he used are all coming out. There is no way the doctors can fix this because they don't know why Dr Cealo took so much bone away. They cannot even do a bone graph. They informed me that I will lose the use of my legs eventually because of what was done. My legs are numb now all of the time. My pain level is worse than before the surgery. Never go to any of these Doctors here. They will harm you. I tried calling them after the Doctors here discovered what he did. They will not talk to me. I asked for all Surgical Notes, Files, and Videos and they will not give them to me. Again DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE.

My experience with Dr. Ceola has been totally positive throughout my spondylisthesis surgery as well as post op and recovery. He is a most genuine person and a true caregiver. It is easy to see when speaking with him.... a great communicator, he will gladly speak with a patient at length and answer every questions clearly. And of note, his meticulous skills as a surgeon and his attention to detail are well known. His entire team at The Spinal Center are top notch for sure and I have been treated wonderfully by everyone there throughout my treatment and recovery. I am just 3 months post op and my life has already improved dramatically. I am very grateful to Dr. Ceola and his entire team. Thank you!
