I met with her to discuss a potential gallbladder surgery. My experience during that meeting did not inspire confidence that she prioritized her patients - for almost an hour, I could hear her making idle chit-chat with hospital staff along the corridors while I waited in the patient's room. I understand that medical appointments require a lot of waiting and I normally do not mind waiting for my doctor at all - to me, it usually indicates that the doctor is taking her/his time with another patient or another important task, so it leads me to trust that the doctor will expend the same amount of time and level of care on me. But hearing the cause for my longer-than-usual wait during our appointment had the opposite effect: I could not trust that her patient was more important to her than unimportant, drawn-out small talk.
