Dr. Smith was amazing and explained every step in the Lasix process from beginning to the end. It was so helpful for her to be explaining what was happening during the procedure and she was fast and efficient. I highly recommend her and her staff for all your eye surgery needs.

Dr. Smith and North Idaho Eye Institute are Amazing! I was referred to Dr. Smith by a friend of mine, who had great confidence in her. I had cataract surgery in both eyes, and then a follow-up LASIK surgery in one eye, to obtain 20/20 distance vision in both eyes. Dr. Smith and her staff are very professional, but also warm and caring. I felt like Elisha and I were best friends! The pre-op and post-op nurses are very thorough and they take all the time you need to explain things. I was pretty nervous for both cataract and LASIK surgeries, and no one made me feel stupid for being so nervous. They just carefully explained each procedure until I was comfortable going through with it. I highly recommend Dr. Smith and the North Idaho Eye Institute for both cataract and LASIK surgery.

Dr. Smith seemed competent in diagnosing an acute posterior vitreous detachment. Her exam was thorough. However, she seemed impatient when answering questions, and came across rushed and somewhat arrogant. A physician should show competence, but also should be friendly, patient, humble and take the time to answer questions clearly and thoroughly. Why see her when there are other ophthalmologists in the area that excell in all these areas.

Dr. Smith doesn't seem able to understand that everyone's eyes are different. After cataract surgery, I told her how the lenses she picked are negatively affecting my vision. She seemed shocked and says she's never heard that before. Like I'm making up what I'm seeing! She seems very inexperienced or could use some time reading current research.

After years of wearing soft contact lenses and glasses, I finally decided to overcome my fear and investigate Lasik and see what it was all about. Going through the process was very easy and informative. The staff was very nice, making sure I felt comfortable and all my questions were answered. Dr. Smith and the technicians were very thorough and explaining the procedure as they went. Her kindness and amazing surgical skills has given me a new outlook on life, one that is so much clearer!

I would not recommend. She is arrogant, has a horrible bedside manner, isn't compassionate, and can't think outside the box. She is textbook driven and if you are not the typical textbook case, that fits into her cookie cutter mold then she treats you like you are lying. Even after another provider came in and looked at my eyes this provider's body language, demeanor, and verbal language was obvious. All she could say is "things don't add up."
