Thinks he’s and his staff are above reproach
Went for sudden excruciating back pain after unloading the car and hearing a loud pop. Can’t walk on left leg at the moment. I do my best to avoid ER visits because I’m Deaf and they refuse to give interpreters. Not enough room to fully explain everything. Suffice to say that the visit was very short, NP made me feel like I was wasting her time and when I asked for actual imaging to conf her “diagnosis” ( an assumption she made after 2 min exam) she got irritated. When I advocated for myself and argued that I wanted actual tangible evidence because I’ve had bulging disc before and this was very different she continued to refuse. After going back and forth for a few days in MyChart she finally relented and ordered xray and mri. During that exchange I do admit I was not very nice at times. She kept telling me that the xray was useless, that is true if you accept her diagnosis, soft tissue doesn’t show on X-rays. I wanted the bones looked at. Had the xray and they found the issue.

Zero follow up with patients after surgery.
My father was released too soon after surgery and was admitted to the ER twice. He is showing zero signs of improvement after surgery and is actually cognitively worse off. There have been zero attempts by the Doctor for post-surgical checkups.

On March 12, 2019 my son was hit in the head with a discus during track practice which resulted in emergency brain surgery and a craniotomy. Thank God that Dr. Benedict was the doctor who took the call. Dr. Benedict was amazing throughout the entire experience. He walked us through each step and treated my son like his own! His decisions for my son were spot on and just 9 months later my son is almost 100%! We are so thankful for Dr. Benedict's knowledge and ability.

Our experience was WONDERFUL, and I I'm shocked at these reviews. He explained things very well and completely to us, before surgery, I thought his bedside manner was very good; he and his assistant made my son feel at ease. We were asked if we requested him because he is a surgeon patients often request for him to do their emergency surgery. One of my sons nurses said she had worked with him for many years and thinks he is wonderful, also.

Dr Benedict definitely has a god complex. Makes decisions without consulting family members and then doesn’t even inform them. You have to track him down to try to get answers, then he has an attitude while providing them. Bedside manner and common courtesy aren’t part of his personality.

I was told I was lucky to get Dr. Benedict when I showed up to the ER at Kennestone, and they were right. I finally had a doctor that listened to me and actually cared. He was highly upset at how I'd been neglected by multiple other doctors for a very serious condition. He is absolutely patient-oriented. He didn't come across as arrogant to me, he just knows his field. He continues to see me to ensure everything is healing properly. I am so thankful to him and he is my only choice should I need his expertise again.

Dr Benedict is an arrogant man who believes he is God. My surgery on my neck was a 2 hour double fusion which in my was very painful for several months afterwards. I then had to have another surgery below my first surgery and I went to another doctor that was higher rated. I had a single fusion and it was a 5 hour surgery as this doctor took out all the bone spurs and other issues that Dr Benedict left behind. After 5 hours of surgery I was able to eat that night and have been pain free since.

I came into Dr Benedict's care after another back surgeon mismanaged my case and nearly killed me because of a deep tissue staph infection. He treated me with compassion and explained each step of my treatments over months until my bone grafts became stable enough for him to operate once and remove the infected hardware and flush out all the infection. I highly recommend him. He has since been treating me for a pituitary tumor and as well as monitoring my back condition.

Dr. Benedict is the worst doctor I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. It is doctors like him that make people not only despise the medical profession in general but also mistrust them as well. His bedside manner is atrocious & is ego is even worse. To say this man has a God complex is an insult to God. Only one of his many staff is kind and carrying. Additionally, you almost have to audition with his physician assistant to get an appointment with his excellency. DON'T GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!!!

We had our first appointment with Dr.Benedict today and thought that he was very caring, knowledgeable, and had great bedside manner. He gave facts about upcoming procedures and care with great compassion about future treatment and success rate. He was honest, real and very encouraging. We feel very confidant with our future.

If i could give 1 star i would. He has no bedside manor and he belittled me and I felt very judged. The surgery was a success but he is distant and just plain mean. I would not recommend him as a first chouce...more like last choice. I had a complete spinal fusion from breaking my back, and was discharged with no pain medications at all. Then was told by him that he would only see me once after follow up and then he refused to see me again. He just threw me into the wind, bad doctor!

Dr. Benedict performed three surgeries on my 85 year old father-in-law who broke his back and neck during a fall. Dr. Benedict explained each procedure carefully and took the time to clearly communicate with my FIL and patiently answer any and all questions. His care is patient centered; his bedside manner is exceptional. We had no doubts that my FIL received the best medical care possible.

Dr. Benedict is knowledgeable, however not arrogant. He has a great understanding of neurosurgery and even neurology. Something that was vitally important was that when opening me up, he wanted to minimize my exposure. I had been through four prior procedures with other neurosurgeons who only wanted to get paid for another surgery. Dr. Benedict would rather NOT perform a surgery if it is not in my best interest. His motivation is on my health, not his wallet.
