Hip Replacement Surgeries
I had a hip replacement in 2018 and 2020. Both surgeries went well and I was very satisfied with both of them. I am pain free and walking. Dr. Hopkinson is a wonderful doctor and I would definitely recommend him. I think he is semi-retired and that makes me sad.

Dr. Hopkinson did a full knee replacement on my right knee, which was enlarged and deformed from osteoarthritis, he was highly recommended by my cardiologist at Loyola. From my first consultation through several follow up appointments, Dr. Hopkinson was very thorough in making sure I understood my options, as well as what to expect from the surgery and recovery. I think Dr. Hopkinson did a great job on my surgery. After two nights in the hospital where physical therapy began immediately, I returned home and was able to walk around the house without assistance. With more PT, I recovered very quickly, making steady progress with way less pain than I expected, and fully recovered range of motion in 6 months. I would highly recommend Dr. Hopkinson and Loyola for anyone needing knee surgery/replacement.

I have been going to Dr Hopkinson for several years now, and have also referred him to many of my family and friends. I have been a nurse for over 40 years and I only use top doctors in their fields and Dr Hopkinson is the finest orthopedic surgeon I know. He's personable, kind and considerate of all his patients and their families, and a brilliant surgeon. His office located in Burr Ridge is extremely clean and his office staff and nurses all experienced. Dr Hopkinson is a "10"....(-_-)

Our experience with Dr. Hopkinson has been less than stellar. This feeling comes from an infection that came up after a rather complex hip replacement. While he may not be directly responsible, we believe that the deplorable condition of Loyola Medical Center is at least complacent in this situation. And his offices in Burr Ridge may also be suspect. In either case this has resulted in my wife having to spend 12 to 16 weeks in recovery and two additional surgeries. Be careful where you go!
