Great Doctor, surgeon
Very honest Doctor. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Either he can fix it. Or he can’t, he’ll tell you so. That might not be what you wanna hear. But that’s life. He did an amazing job on my knee. I couldn’t be happier. We need more like him.

Excellent experience. Thorough explanation of surgery options and even called me several days after surgery to check in. No complaints here.

Do not recommend
He disagreed with referring physician about doing surgical repair. When I asked "so this won't heal without surgery, and I am just going to have to live with it?" Response was "Yup, pretty much." Recommended shots (which he did give me) and gave me paperwork for a knee brace. Can only have shots every 3 months they help for about 3 weeks. He is sports medicine orthopedic. So one look at my non athletic physical appearance and he wrote me off. Showed no concern for how emotionally upset I was and didn't even want to schedule a fallow -up to see how I was doing. Sad thing is we both work for the same hospital. I'm ashamed that we have Drs like this.

Honest assessment
Dr Pullen gave me an honest second opinion on my knee issues and confirmed my previous diagnosis. Would definitely see him again.

Was over an hour late for the appointment. Refused to acknowledge anything I had to say about my own diagnosis or treatment, and then called me hostile. Also a new doctor for MUSC so who knows if he really knows what he’s doing? Refused to get new films for my ongoing condition until we met again, seems like y’all just want another co-pay. Nah, I’ll find a doctor who knows what they’re doing and knows the difference between advocating for oneself and “hostility.” Mansplain and gaslight someone else, I’m good, dude.
