I Have No Words
1. Appointments were rushed2. There was no real discussion or options, he had no other options for me, my case is rather hard.3. Lived in the office he does several shots that last for a minute literally, then deal with the pain of the procedure4. Put several shots in my back & when he heard me cry out, he said, my insurance did not cover the I think it laughing gas. While I was getting the procedure.5. His accent is very thick, so you have to listen really closely6. Did not discuss or break down the procedure well7. Nurse and people in the procedure could not explain anything, kept repeating the same thing, do not know how to explain things in a different way so you would understand8. I had to get my insurance company to call them to straighten out billing several times. They stopped and started up again. One more thing I have to do.9. Because I did not feel fullt informed Of the good, the bad and the ugly my nerves were shot, causing myself more pain, etc.

Awful - ZERO Stars!
Dr Gu was terrible to me. He did not listen to anything I had to say. In fact, he told me that I needed to see a pain management specialist. In response I told him that I thought he was a pain management specialist. He said yes, but that he could not help me. He muttered every time he spoke, which wasn’t that much and he never made eye contact a single time. My appointment was less than 5 minutes long and my co-pay was $100. Dr Gu showed no concern or interest in helping me whatsoever. I’ve met with some awful doctors, but this guy takes the cake! From what I gathered from his other patients in the waiting room, Dr Gu is centered on injections. That’s it! Awfulexperience! I wouldn’t take my dog to see this guy!

Bad experience
If I could give a zero I could. Very nice man but seemed to lack knowledge on medical issues, high staff turnover, not a good experience

Dr. Gu is so friendly. While an injection muchless two can be a very painful experience, his relaxed chatting with you keeps your mind off of the subject at hand.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gu's for over 10 years-and I can't say anything but the best about him. He knows what he is doing, is patient and kind and compassionate and knows how to treat pain. He's kept me going all these years-and allowed me the opportunity to still teach and play golf.

Rude staff, inept dr, overcharged and not refunded
This was a negative experience the moment I stepped in the door. I’m a middle aged woman who threw my back out to the point I couldn’t sit, stand, lay down without 10/10 pain. I was taking 1/2 of a pain pill that I had been prescribed 6 months ago from my pcp and had to take a week off work. The staff was rude and unprofessional, from the intake receptionist, to the lady who took my history and argued with me because I didn’t want my picture taken, to the outtake receptionist. I was drug tested without my knowledge and did not ask or was given a prescription. They overcharged me, I called to get my money back and have not been reimbursed.

Worst doctor. Does not listen nor explain anything. When you ask a question, he hands you a brochure about the many worthless procedures he does. Don't waste your time with this office; it is a nightmare.

I have been seeing Dr. Gu for about five years. Before there were times I had extreme pain. He has helped me quite a lot and even my husband has been a patient. I would say he is a couple of steps below an angel in his method of medical work. At 70 there is no way I could have been "living without pain" without his care. I think of him as a friend in a white coat. There is Superman, Batman and now with Dr. Gu there is "Medical Man".

Terrible experience. He was hard to understand and did not discuss options. He failed to call in a prescription and then blamed his nurses for sending to his wrong email. Typical of National Pain and Spine Center - they do not return calls even after hours calls for help.

I have found Dr Gu to be very pleasant always and very professional. His staff and other Drs have always been respectful and pleasant. I tried injections but they did not work for me. Dr Gu and I discussed doing a radio frequency ablasion to deaden the nerves. I had the procedure done and it has helped with the pain. I work closely with Dr Steven for monitoring my situation and he is an outstanding Dr as well. Great bedside manner.

The PA was excellent. I barely saw Dr. Gu. He relied totally on the PA. I didn't mind that because I agreed that his PA was excellent. However, the second time that I went for an appointment, I was confused about the time (continued headaches). I was 20 minutes late (I thought I was 10 minutes early) and the staff said I was too late. Then I get a bill for $75.00. I did appeal the bill with the billing office in Cinncinati and did not have to pay the $75.00. Even so, I do not plan to return.

Office staff is inconsiderate and rude, and the woman who is supposed to obtain insurance authorizations does not do her job. Twice authorization has not been obtained prior to my husband's injection visits. Humana stated to me authorization had not been requested until the day prior and it takes 3-4 days to receive. So here I sit with a husband in excruciating pain, and I'm now tasked with locating a reputable pain specialist ASAP, as we will not return to Dr. Gu.

The staff is absolutely horrible. My PCP made me an appointment for an urgent situation. After calling to say I was 5 minutes late, they said I would have to cancel because I should have arrived 30 minutes early. These people are the most inconsiderate and unhelpful people I have ever encountered. DO NOT USE!!!!

After more than 6 visits where Gu treated my husband with injections, my husband still has no pain relief. In fact the injections have resulted in subsrantial additional pain for several days after each set of injections. How long will this doctor insist on torturing my husband with injections that provide no pain relief, but instead cause more pain?

Horrible! Office staff shows no concern about you being in pain --only getting paid. Out of pocket balance owed must be below $200, before you can be seen again. I went to receive more injections and was denied service because my balance was over 200, even after I told them the insurance already sent the payment. BTW- The money owed was for injections I received a month ago, which did absolutely nothing. I was asked to reschedule--earliest being some time next month. Stay clear of this mess
