I was 27 years old I saw Dr. Saloum for what I thought was a fissure. I waited for over 2 hours to be seen by him. When my husband and I met with him he shot off a ton of questions and at the end of about 15 questions he said "you need a colonoscopy". At the time when he made this recommendation he had not done any sort of physical exam to assess my symptoms he jumped straight to the most invasive and ironically most expensive option. I have no other health concerns and my history pointed to my symptoms being a result of a fissure or hemorrhoid. Now I can understand recommending a colonoscopy after conducting an exam but not before you even so much as look at me. So, I requested an exam. Dr. Saloum conducted a visual exam of a very intimate part of my body while his assistant used a PHONE flashlight as a light source. I do not recommend this doctor. His practices left me feeling violated and left me questioning his ethics. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

I guess it’s because I appear young? So it’s hard to take me seriously? I had no problems with his approach, diagnosis, or in his plan of action - I had a problem with his dismissive attitude. I’m currently a graduate student enrolled at the Morsani School of medicine, and the second I mentioned a letter for exam accommodations, I regretted it. He laughed at me. Immediately, I was written off as another patient trying to “pull something.” I’ll be severing ties with this physician group.

While at USF, Dr. Saloum ordered just the right tests that resulted in my being diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma, something my primary physician had overlooked doing for year (and I was symptomatic). Gentle, kind and to the point. My husband had his HepC cured with treatment overseen by Dr. Saloum. Highly recommended by me (a patient with a strong medical background) and my husband (a lay person with a basic medical knowledge).

The doctor is fine but the staff that manage the doctor's schedule is atrocious. You can never talk to Dr.'s staff when calling his office, only a voice recording. When leaving your name and number no one calls back. There are 4 or 5 people in reception but I have to drive to his office and speaking with staff directly for service The person handling the patient's insurance issues sides with insurance carrier judgment rather than fill out extra forms to get meds Dr. ordered.
