Dr. Yee Thein, MD

She is so quick to judge about my mental illness without listening to a list of symptoms I'm currently having and not respecting me as a patient at all. But she repeatedly used stonewalling (boundary technique) against me and totally shuts herself down as I was just sharing my information. She is one of the worst health professionals out there. Don't get blinded by her titles as a board member and a famous university assistant professor. Best wishes to your healing!

I am lucky for Dr. Thein as my depression doctor. She is more like your family member, listen to you, care about you and even push or reminder you regularly. She helped me to step out from my repeating depression quickly.

My husband saw her for severe clinical depression. She only spent 5-10 minutes with him each appointment and was very detached. She changed his meds every 2 weeks and he started feeling so much worse. We had to find a new psychiatrist and it was a way better experience! Dr. Yee Thien doesn’t care about the patient at all!

Dr. Thein lacks compassion and will only go as far as she feels like in assisting with your treatment. At this point, I have jumped through her hoops for almost 5 months and have all but groveled in the floor of her office for a change in medication, however I continue to be given new hoops to jump through. After being told to "just go outside and exercise" one more time, I am done. AVOID unless you want a psych to ignore your cries for help and essentially treat you like a dog at an agility competition.

Don’t bother. The office doesn’t answer the phone, or return voice mail. 2 voice mails and FIVE days later, still no return phone call. They will also try to charge you a fee for not canceling within 24 hours, but you can’t cancel if they don’t answer the phone. I don’t think they even listen to voicemail. She’s a good doctor, but her office is run extremely unprofessionally. I’ve never seen anything like it, personally. You would think, dealing with mental health especially, they would want to respond to communication. I found a new doctor that answers the phone.

I started going to Dr. Thein and I think she's great. Based on some of the negative reviews I was hesitant... However, based on honest reviews of her personality I decided to go. Im glad I have it a try. I was so depressed and anxious that I took a chance because I didn't need sugar coding nor a bff. I needed help. That's what she did on my first visit. She does not waste time listening to all your problems that's what a therapist is for. She DID want to know important details about what's going on. We talked and she evaluated the issues and symptoms. She asked if I wanted to try a different medicine. Every visit since she asked me for updates on my feelings and my mental health. That's it. I can get her to smile and I like that. She is serious at what she does. Cultures are different but a simple smile is good. If you need help with managing the reason you need a psychiatrist then I do record her.

Dr. Thein is an exceptional doctor, my husband has been under her care for several years. He feels very positive after his appointments, don't misunderstand her sometimes serious nature, she is an excellent doctor very caring.

I'm the happiest I've been in years!! I give all my thanks to Dr. Thein!! I highly recommend her; hands down the best!

Dr. Thein is very compassionate and easy to talk to. I have been seeing her for a few years. I never have to wait for her a long time and her office staff is very nice.

Dr Thein is an excellent, no-nonsense psychiatrist. She expertly helps her patients by selecting the best course in medication based on their diagnoses and their experience since the last appointment. My appointments are generally 10--20 minutes which works for me. I do not have insurance but I find the fee affordable. If you are looking for someone to talk to about your problems you need to see a therapist. I recommend Dr. Thein to anyone needing a psychiatrist.

Dr. Thein gets the job done sometimes too quickly (5 minutes or less?) and sometimes just right (good advice and such). Be honest with her, get to know her, and she's just great.
