Look for care elsewhere
Has a laminectomy in 2017 by Dr. Lu. Multiple complications. In more pain after the surgery than before. Very depressed. Would recommend looking elsewhere for care.

Dr Lu was incredible. I had debilitating pain for months. I was referred to him and he explained everything so well. He was kind and I could tell he genuinely cared. He has excellent bed side manner. He and his staff are wonderful. He performed a laminectomy as I had a large cyst on my spine. L4-L5. After surgery taking my first 3 steps pain free was incredible. He gave me my life back again!

Always ask doctor about previous success
I wish I can glorify Dr. Lu. My L5 broke and I went to BWH emergency where I met Dr. Lu. The back fusion surgery I had on March 3 was not successful. My spine is worse and I am in constant pain. I reached out to the doctor many times but he never Personally replied, even when his secretary gave me the bad news. It might have been my mistake that I did not ask the doctor how many successful back fusion he has done

Doctor Lu, treated my dislocated disk and I am not longer in pain. He was so patient and professional. His staff was very attentive and caring. I am pain free thanks to Doctor Lu and his wonderful staff. God bless you all

I've been told for years "there's no reason for you to be in so much pain". Dr's didn't believe me. On the second visit, Dr Lu gave me a diagnosis. I finally had an answer and a treatment plan. I'm forever grateful that I found Dr Lu. I would recommend him 100%.

Both Dr.Lu and his team were highly skilled, and knowledgeable, however also had outstanding bedside manner and seemed to genuinely care about my situation and outcomes. I am a physical therapist and have already recommended patients to see him if they needed a surgical consult as well.

Dr. Lu preformed spinal surgery on my 72 year old father... 5 hour operation it went as planned my fathers pain went from a 10 to almost completely gone. Dr Lu I would recommend to anyone that needs a neurosurgeon. Got my father back to normal in a professional and quick manner..

Terrible incompetent doctor who caused permanent nerve damage after spinal fusion surgery and laminectomy in 2013. I suffer every day and he took no responsibility. Please save your life and go to somebody else.

Dr. Lu performed a spinal fusion with laminectomy on me in Feb. 2015. I ended up with a brain bleed, three major surgeries in three weeks,major caf leak and MRSA in my spine as a result of this surgery. I now have permanent nerve damage. I suffer in chronic pain. Dr. Lu refused to acknowledge my infection. He never followed up with me only hntil one year post op. He insisted I have a SCS implanted despite my infectious disease doctor's recommendations against it. He does not listen.

Dr. Lu performed spine surgery on my husband in August. When we met with him to discuss what type of surgery he would recommend, he was thorough and precise with his explanation of the best procedure. We put our faith in his confidence, experience, and success rate...and we are glad we did so. All went according to plan; my husband is without pain and his spine is straight. Dr. Lu's secretary was also considerate, informative, and helpful. Great experience for us.

Dr. Lu & his staff are the best! I guess you can see my opinion based upon my evaluation review, Never have I had more faith in a Dr. than the faith I have in Dr. Lu. After listening to my symptoms descriptions, looking at test results & giving me a physical exam, he diagnosed my medical problems within 10 minutes. I nearly fainted! He carefully explained everything that I needed to know about both upcoming operations. The entire neurosurgery dept was efficient, friendly & respectful! AMEN!

Dr. Lu provides excellent diagnostic acumen, a continuum of options and clear prognosis for procedures. His collaboration with Dr. Issa and Dr. Battacharya affords patients with wraparound services within one practice, thus eliminating the need to travel to various sites for appointments. The office staff are well efficient, kind and helpful. The med students were well prepared. I am particularly grateful to Dr. Lu's assistant; Lori Gurska, who navigated the Worker's Comp system for us.
