Dr. Young McMahan, MD

I got a rash on my face in December, and went to my primary care physician. She gave me some ointment and set me up with a dermatologist at Providence. My face kept getting worse, and each time I visited him, he had different things to say. The first visit he just said it was an infection and gave me ointment. It got much worse than I went back to him, and he told me not to wash my face or use lotion. He also gave me an antibiotic to take and more ointment, the third time I went to see him. He told me it was impetigo, and again different medicine. I asked my primary care physician for a better doctor and she sent me to Dr. McMahon. She traded me with respect, is doing a scraping to make sure she knows what is going on with my face, and taught me how to take care of it. She was empathetic and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dr. McMahon.

Personnel were all amazing. Procedure was done quickly, but doctor did not do full body exam as should be expected for an annual exam. I shouldn’t have to point out areas of concern. The doctor should examine and treat as needed.

I was very pleased with my follow up visit. My wait was minimal. The nurse was helpful and efficient. The wait for Dr. McMahan was very short. She examined me and took prompt action. She also took.time to answer my questions. I have had many dermatologist in my life. She is the best.

Every time I go for one of my visits the office staff are friendly and professional. Dr. McMahan always answers my questions and gives me her professional opinion.

Dr McMahan and Haley were very polite, friendly. Have a concern about an area on my scalp and was told unless I knew exactly where to find it it would take to long to examine my entire scalp. I know the generalized area but was not asked.

Dr. McMahan is amazing. My daughter (4 years old) has struggled with severe eczema since birth. For years, we have researched, allergy tested, committed to weekly allergy shots, and tried every prescription and OTC cream available with no relief. We were referred to Dr. McMahan, and with her FIRST glance, she saw how severe my daughter's eczema is. Dr. McMahan was so sweet to my daughter and made the dermatologist appointment fun for her by playing games and showing my daughter a picture of her daughter that is the same age. She has been life-changing for us and I cannot recommend her and her nurses enough.

Dr. McMahan is a very knowledgeable and proficient physician; however, her tendency to “talk down” to me and her either inability or unwillingness to relate and communicate with me on a more amicable fashion was indeed a drawback. If I didn’t have such a strong sense of my own self worth and reasonable confidence in my own intelligence, she might have intimidated me. At best, she made me uncomfortable. I am not a physician, but I did go to Baylor University as did my entire family and own and run a very successful business and have for many years. Her haughtiness has no place in working advantageously with the public. When she thinks she is putting down her fellow human beings, she actually showing her own fallacies, indifference and flaws somewhere in her own sense of self worth. She is overcompensating for something lacking in her own self confidence. It was glaring and very off putting. I expect to be treated with respect and kindness, not indifference and negativity.

Only waited a couple of minutes. All staff and doctor were courteous, friendly and answered all my questions. Doctor was thorough and answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. Won’t go to anyone else.
