I had only one appointment and then switched to another PCP. From the way Dr. Chan treated me, I knew we'd never see eye to eye on anything. First of all, I told her that I needed a new prescription for my B-12 shots, which I've had each month for 30 years for pernicious anemia caused by a medication. She said I didn't need the shots. She ordered a blood test, then canceled it, then ordered it again and said my B-12 level was normal. I told her that serum B-12 is always normal because of the shots, but that B-12 must be absorbed by the tissues, which requires a special test. I told my neurologist that Dr. Chan said I "didn't need" the shots. He said "You "DO need them!" Aside from that, she also refused to refer me to a rheumatologist, even though I've been treated by one for decades for arthritis and osteoporosis. I switched to Dr. Josef Sipos, one of the best PCP's I've ever had. Dr. Chan's clinical skills are horrible; so is her personality. As a hospitalist, she'll be disliked.
